Political Law Associate (Junior)

Our nationally recognized Political Law practice is seeking an entry-level associate (JD Class of 2025 or 2026) or judicial clerk to join our collaborative team in Washington, DC.

The associate will advise political organizations, nonprofit entities, businesses, and high-net-worth individuals on complex legal and regulatory matters related to navigating the political process at the federal, state, and local level. This includes work on campaign finance, lobbying disclosure and regulations, government ethics, and gift rules.

We counsel a wide variety of clients, including candidates, advocacy groups, businesses, trade associations, lobbying firms, and high-net-worth individuals, as well as federal and state super PACs. We also serve as general counsel to prominent advocacy organizations and help tax-exempt organizations with corporate governance, executive compensation, IRS restrictions on lobbying and political activities, fundraising, and other issues.

Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in political and election law and government investigations, exceptional writing and research skills, and a commitment to excellent client service. Prior experience on a campaign, on Capitol Hill, at a lobbying or advocacy firm, or in state government is a plus, as is any background in campaign finance law, lobbying disclosure and regulations, government ethics, and gift rules. Excellent academic credentials and strong analytical ability are required.

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Admitted to, or pursuing admission to, the DC Bar
• Excellent academic credentials and strong writing and analytical skills
• Demonstrated interest in political and election law and government investigations
• Prior campaign, Capitol Hill, lobbying/advocacy, or state government experience preferred
• Familiarity with campaign finance, lobbying disclosure, government ethics, and gift rules preferred
