A leading national firm's public finance group is seeking a mid-level associate with 2–4 years of experience to join its San Francisco office. The group is a recognized leader in the bond and public financing space, with a deep history of handling high-volume municipal and public finance transactions nationwide and a dominant presence in the California bond market.

The practice covers the full spectrum of financing matters for state and local governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, investment banks, bond purchasers, and developers. Work spans municipal bonds, notes, and other obligations (tax-exempt and taxable) for public infrastructure and capital improvement projects; public noncapital programs; nonprofit health care, educational, cultural, and affordable housing facilities; for-profit water, wastewater, energy, and multifamily housing projects; tribal financings; IRS audits, SEC investigations and enforcement; secondary market repackagings and securitizations; public-private partnerships; and bankruptcies and work-outs.

The role offers a robust on-the-job training program, so a strong transactional background and exposure to public finance, the UCC, or securities law are valued but not required. The firm emphasizes collegiality, mentorship, and integration into client teams, with top-tier training and professional development opportunities.

  • Two to four years of relevant law firm experience
  • Strong transactional background; public finance, UCC, and securities law experience a plus but not required
  • Highly motivated with outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing and communication abilities
  • Superior client service skills
  • Member of the Bar in a U.S. state and able to satisfy local jurisdiction requirements
