A leading international law firm
Apply in confidence →A leading national real estate practice is seeking a Supervising Lawyer to support and develop its growing Manchester transactional team. This is a dedicated supervision role: rather than carrying a personal caseload, you will focus on coaching and reviewing the work of junior lawyers and helping partners raise the quality and consistency of the team's output.
The wider real estate group is one of the largest in the firm and advises investors, developers, occupiers, funders, corporates and public sector bodies on high-value investment, development, landlord and tenant, and portfolio transactions. The Manchester team combines technical excellence with a commercial, business-focused approach and has a genuinely collegiate culture that gives junior lawyers early responsibility within a supportive environment.
Your primary "clients" will be the junior lawyers you support and develop, and by extension the clients they advise. You will provide ad hoc supervision across live matters, review drafts and give constructive feedback, help juniors prioritise workloads and understand their role within wider transactions, and work with partners to identify knowledge gaps and training needs. You will also provide occasional fee-earning support on projects and client matters.
There is scope to work alongside knowledge lawyers on precedents, playbooks, drafting guidance and checklists, to field technical queries such as Land Registry procedures, and to design and deliver workshops and know-how initiatives across the team.
- Experienced real estate lawyer with ideally at least 7 years' PQE, gained in private practice or in-house
- Strong experience in investment, landlord and tenant, property management and development work
- Excellent technical and communication skills, able to turn complex law into practical, commercial guidance
- Demonstrated experience of supervising, coaching and giving constructive feedback to junior lawyers
- Confidence working with stakeholders from trainees through to partners
- Genuine interest in real estate law, knowledge management and developing others
- Desirable: corporate real estate, energy and projects, PSL/knowledge lawyer or training experience, and interest in legal technology
