A leading international law firm is seeking a senior artificial intelligence lawyer to join its corporate practice in New York, focused on building AI-powered solutions for M&A transactions. This is a hands-on builder role for a former M&A practitioner who has transitioned into designing, developing, and deploying production-ready AI workflows.

The position sits at the intersection of legal practice and applied AI, reporting to M&A practice and AI leadership. The successful candidate will fine-tune models on M&A knowledge, create reusable workflows for the practice, and use a suite of legal tech tools daily to build, test, refine, and ship solutions.

Working across Engineering, Data Science, knowledge management lawyers, and practice solutions teams, the role translates deep M&A legal reasoning into executable AI logic. It spans the full deal lifecycle — from screening and diligence through signing and closing — while ensuring lawyers can adopt AI confidently and effectively.

The role also covers governance and lifecycle management of AI assets, training and mentoring, adherence to professional responsibility standards, and sharing best practices across practice groups.

  • J.D. or equivalent, with 8–10 years of practice experience in mergers and acquisitions
  • Deep knowledge of M&A transactions, due diligence processes, and related documents such as purchase agreements, merger agreements, disclosure schedules, and ancillary deal documents
  • Meaningful legal technology and/or AI experience, including exposure to tools such as Harvey, Legora, Claude Cowork, Claude Code, or similar platforms
  • Demonstrated end-to-end experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying AI workflows — not just using or advising on them
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, data science, and knowledge management teams in a matrixed organization
  • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-starter comfortable championing AI adoption and leading change within a practice group
  • Confidence teaching, coaching, and mentoring lawyers on AI tools and workflows
  • Strong customer service orientation and responsiveness to incoming requests
