Solicitor - Casualty and Professional Risk - Belfast

A leading insurance-focused law firm is seeking an experienced solicitor to join its market-leading casualty team in Belfast. The team acts for a large portfolio of insurance companies and self-insured corporates, handling a wide range of defendant claims including professional and commercial risk, clinical negligence and employment matters.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and well-respected team, with exposure to more complex matters under the guidance of experienced supervisors and senior lawyers. Full training and ongoing support will be provided to help you thrive in the role.

You will manage a varied caseload of pre-litigated and litigated work, screen matters for prospects, advise clients on case strategy, and resolve claims through negotiation and litigation within client service standards. You will also instruct experts and counsel, draft witness statements and court documents, and maintain strong client relationships while proactively managing expectations.

• Qualified solicitor with litigation experience, ideally in one or more of: clinical negligence claims under Northern Ireland practice directions and protocol; commercial court claims under Northern Ireland practice directions and protocols; or claims before the Industrial Tribunals and Fair Employment Tribunal.
• Proven communication skills at all levels and excellent client relationship skills.
• Ability to adopt a commercial perspective and demonstrate reasonable self-sufficiency, with awareness of the boundaries of own competence and authority.
• Change-oriented with a positive, flexible approach to new initiatives.
• Team-oriented and collegiate, willing to share knowledge and support junior colleagues.
