An opportunity has opened within a highly regarded employment team at a leading UK law firm for a solicitor to specialise in contentious employment work. The role sits within a collaborative, forward-thinking practice supporting both individuals and businesses across a range of sectors.

You will advise clients on a broad spectrum of contentious employment issues, including unfair dismissal, unlawful deductions from wages, breach of contract, whistleblowing and discrimination. The position involves representing both claimants and respondents in Employment Tribunal claims and higher court proceedings, with a focus on matters funded by legal expenses insurance.

As a key member of the team, you will manage a varied and fast-paced caseload while mentoring and supporting paralegals and apprentices. You will also participate in a dedicated training programme and work closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality, client-focused service.

1–4 years PQE
Proven experience handling contentious matters
Experience representing both claimants and respondents in Employment Tribunal claims is desirable but not essential
Enthusiasm for contentious employment law and commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients under pressure
Ability to manage a substantial and varied workload
Experience with clients funded by legal expenses insurance is desirable
Strong mentoring skills and a willingness to support junior team members
