Apply in confidence →National appellate practice seeks a lateral associate with strong experience in patent appeals and IP. The team handles high‑profile federal appeals, including Federal Circuit matters, and works closely with trial teams to preserve and develop appellate issues.
Successful candidates will work on drafting appellate briefs, petitions for certiorari, amicus briefs, and related filings; conduct advanced legal research on complex patent and IP questions; and participate in moot courts and oral-argument preparation. The role involves deep engagement with technical subject matter across high‑tech and life‑sciences industries.
- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academics
- 5–7 years of appellate litigation experience with a focus on patent/IP appeals
- Admission to at least one state bar; Federal Circuit admission preferred
- Prior judicial clerkship preferred (Federal Circuit or district court with significant patent docket)
- Proven experience drafting appellate briefs, cert petitions, and substantive motions in patent/IP matters
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills; ability to distill complex technical issues into persuasive arguments
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage deadlines, and collaborative team skills
