Clyde & Co Salary 2026: Associate Scale, Bonus and Partner Pay

On 19 August 2026, Law360 reported Clyde & Co raised London newly qualified pay to up to £90,000. The insurance-and-disputes table says that NQ is not a Magic Circle commodity. This page prices the print for the solicitor who earns it and the general counsel who matches it.

The market still prices a commodity. The 2026 table does not.

Sartori maps roughly 30,000 practicing lawyers in London. The 2026 Clyde & Co salary question for a general counsel is not whether the London newly qualified print looks cheap next to Magic Circle. It is whether the insurance-and-disputes table still prices that solicitor as a commodity.

Lens 01 · The commodity print London NQ is a ceiling, not a Magic Circle lockstep.

Law360 UK, on 19 August 2026, reported that Clyde & Co raised newly qualified pay in London to up to £90,000 ($123,000). Legal Cheek's 29 September 2025 ranking still had a flat £85,000. Up to is not lockstep.

Four reads of one ceiling. The 2026 discard is the idea that a Clyde London NQ is leftover Magic Circle inventory. The insurance-and-disputes table prices a different solicitor. The table sits in section 03.

What a Clyde & Co salary publishes in 2026

The firm publishes a London newly qualified ceiling, UK trainee bases and a handful of regional NQ prints. It does not publish the rungs a head of legal needs to match a 4 PQE coverage hire.

Legal Cheek's Clyde & Co firm profile, accessed on 11 September 2026, lists London newly qualified salary as variable and up to £90,000. Trainee London rates on the same Money box are £48,500 in year one and £51,000 in year two. Regional NQ is £38,000 in Belfast and £60,000 in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester. Regional trainee year-1 rates on that box: Belfast £25,900, Glasgow and Edinburgh £28,500, Manchester £33,000, Bristol £40,000. The London PGDL/SQE grant is £9,600 — a training-contract cash line, not NQ base. Annual target hours: none. Survey averages on that profile start at 09:03 and finish at 18:25. That is the measured hours figure for this page, not a trainee anecdote about who stays past eight.

The hike that moved the ceiling is dated. Law360 UK, on 19 August 2026, reported that Clyde & Co LLP raised newly qualified salaries in its London office to up to £90,000, and printed $123,000 as a conversion of that ceiling, not as a US payroll number. The ranking the market was still using before that lede is also dated. Legal Cheek, on 29 September 2025, listed Clyde & Co at a flat £85,000 in a table of 100-plus London NQ bases whose list-wide average was £118,756. Magic Circle sat at £150,000. Insurance and disputes peers on that same table: Kennedys £85,000, RPC £95,000, HFW £103,500. Legal Cheek, on 11 November 2024, had still listed Clyde at £80,000.

A year-by-year Clyde associate scale is not public. That absence is the story of section 05. What is public at the junior end is where the retained seats actually sat. Legal Cheek, on 10 September 2026, left the firm's advertised training-contract count unchanged in both the 2026 and 2027 Firms Most List columns, against a list-wide move from 2,593 to 2,549 across 109 firms. The Lawyer, on 10 September 2025, placed the retained autumn intake at 28 London, 13 Manchester, 3 Guildford, 3 Scotland, 2 Belfast, 1 Bristol and 1 Newcastle. London still takes the plurality. Manchester is the second casualty and insurance hub. A general counsel who treats every qualifier as a City coverage NQ is reading a different map.

UK seat NQ base Trainee year 1 What the Money box actually says
London up to £90,000 £48,500 Ceiling after 19 August 2026 hike; trainees from Legal Cheek profile
Manchester £60,000 £33,000 Regional NQ; trainee year 1 only
Glasgow / Edinburgh £60,000 £28,500 Regional NQ; trainee year 1 only
Belfast £38,000 £25,900 Regional NQ; trainee year 1 only
Bristol not published £40,000 Trainee year 1 only; no regional NQ in the Money box

Bristol appears as a trainee year-1 print of £40,000; a Bristol NQ cell is not on that Money box. The 2026 Bristol direct training contract on the firm's own early-careers pages is Energy & Construction, not a London IFPD lockstep. PGDL and SQE grants, vacation-scheme weekly rates and solicitor-apprentice bands are a separate payroll line and are not the NQ product a general counsel matches.

03 Why the discard is wrong

The 2026 insurance-and-disputes table that prices the seat

A London NQ ceiling of up to £90,000 is what the ranking sites still argue about. The files that pay this bench sit in High Court volume, Lloyd's capital, and coverage work a newly qualified lockstep does not describe.

In that same London interview cohort, 64 of 118 respondents sitting on insurance, coverage or casualty desks over a 24-month window told Sartori that a general counsel who prices the Clyde London NQ as leftover Magic Circle inventory is buying the wrong product. The NQ commodity print is not the coverage seat a general counsel is buying.

Solomonic, on 2 March 2026, ranked the firm first by new claim volume in the civil courts of England and Wales and the Competition Appeal Tribunal for a fourth consecutive year. The same Year in Review placed it first for hearing days, first by active claims, and first by volume of claims of £1 million and above. Exact claim counts behind those ranks sit in a paid PDF and are not used here. High Court claim volumes, on Solomonic's free 2025 wrap, were up 7 percent on 2024. That is court-filing analytics, not this firm's own matter count, and it is still the public measure of the disputes table this NQ is attached to.

The Commercial Court Report 2024–2025, published by the Courts and Tribunals Judiciary in February 2026, recorded 609 new Commercial Court claims, against 743 in 2023–24. Insurance and/or reinsurance was 33 new claims, 5 percent of that 609, and the sixth category — it had been 21 percent and the largest category in 2022–23, the Covid business-interruption batch-filing year. Those 33 pleadings are issued Commercial Court files labeled insurance or reinsurance. They are not London Market arbitration, not county-court casualty volume, and not a Clyde mandate census.

Lloyd's, on 19 March 2026, reported 2025 gross written premium of £57.9 billion, against £55.5 billion in 2024, with volume growth of 10.3 percent offset by price of minus 3.7 percent. Underwriting result £5.2 billion; combined ratio 87.6 percent; profit before tax £10.6 billion. That GWP is syndicate premium written through Lloyd's, not Clyde fee income. It is the capital stack a Group General Counsel at a managing agent or composite is still defending, covering and reserving. The London Court of International Arbitration's 2024 Annual Casework Report, published 3 July 2025, recorded 362 referrals, of which 318 under LCIA Rules, with insurance at 3 percent of referrals. That insurance share sits beside, not inside, the Commercial Court's 33 issued pleadings; it is not a Clyde matter count. Chambers UK Guide 2026, on the firm's Insurance: Contentious Claims & Reinsurance department page, describes specialist knowledge of the Lloyd's market and sizable marine, energy and construction claims. Legal 500's London insurance-and-reinsurance litigation ranking, accessed 11 September 2026, names AIG and Allianz among key clients and lists the peer employers a coverage lateral actually moves between.

A general counsel at a listed UK composite insurer put the mismatch in one line: the board will fund a 4 PQE coverage or casualty hire off this bench and will not fund Magic Circle newly qualified pounds for a first in-house claims seat. That is how a company-side budget actually clears. The NQ ranking is a recruiting poster. The disputes table is the job.

Who earns the figure, and who pays it

Two payers sit on this page: the LLP that employs the scale, and the general counsel who either seconds the junior, hires them in-house, or buys the same insurance-and-disputes product on a panel.

Of 33 closed London associate searches over the trailing three years, Sartori's mandate telemetry records 21 as company-side seats in which a general counsel, chief legal officer or head of legal was matching an insurance, coverage or casualty hire from NQ through 4 PQE. The remaining 12 were firm-side associate seats. That split is why this page is not a Magic Circle lateral memo. The company is the majority buyer on the London associate desk that priced this table.

We have worked the London associate market for more than 10 years, for companies in insurance, aviation, energy and construction and for UK insurance-and-disputes firms. Over the trailing three years we closed 33 associate searches at a 93 percent completion rate, on a typical timeline of 6 to 12 weeks, with a median 12 working days between offer and acceptance.

The FY2026 census behind that payroll, from the firm's 7 August 2026 release and the highlights PDF for the year to 30 April 2026, is 4,977 total staff, down from 5,360 at 30 April 2025; 3,203 legal professionals including partners, up from 3,170; and 500 partners, unchanged. North America was £237 million, 28 percent of fee income and the fastest-growing region; the UK was 47 percent. The firm added 38 laterals and 41 promotions in the year. The 21 April 2026 promotions release counted a 1 May 2026 cycle of 28 partners — 10 in North America, 11 in the UK (4 Manchester, 7 London) — plus 13 out-of-cycle promotions, across disputes, corporate and advisory, insurance, aviation, construction, energy and marine. The North America platform in that release: more than 400 attorneys, over 100 partners, 21 offices in the US and Canada.

FY2026 fee income by region, year to 30 April 2026, as the firm printed it in pounds million. This is where the partnership put capital, not a newly qualified lockstep.

  2. Panel solicitor Lot 1 claims for a public indemnity scheme; coverage and defense for composites, syndicates and MGAs. The company buys the hours, not the NQ poster.
  3. In-house match A Group General Counsel, head of legal or SMF16 at a carrier or managing agent who has to put a lawyer on the payroll and price this ceiling against a mid-level coverage seat.

The seat is law-firm insurance and disputes. The careers taxonomy, accessed 11 September 2026, is Insurance, Dispute Resolution, Casualty, IFPD, Trial and Defence in North America, Aviation, Energy, Marine, Projects and Construction, Regulatory and Investigations.

  • Financial lines still hire at partner. A 4 August 2026 London partner appointment into Financial Lines came from a UK insurance-disputes peer, to cover coverage, W&I, cyber, D&O and professional indemnity for London-market insurers and MGAs. A 1 June 2026 London insurance partner hire, dual-qualified barrister and solicitor, was for professional indemnity, management liability, financial lines, coverage, monitoring and commercial crime.
  • Casualty is a regional volume machine. A 13 January 2026 release promoting two catastrophic-injury partners in Bristol and Southampton stated 400 lawyers specializing in large and complex injury matters in the UK and work for more than 90 percent of UK general insurers — firm-stated bands, not an audited census. The July 2022 BLM combination, as Global Legal Post restated on 8 August 2025, added about 600 lawyers and almost £100 million of revenue; that is the structural step behind the regional casualty desk, not a 2026 merger.
  • US coverage is a state-barred associate seat. Clyde & Co US LLP's Workday posting JR2341, datePosted 14 August 2026, advertised an Associate Attorney, Insurance Coverage, in Denver, 3 or more years, admitted in Colorado, at $140,000–$190,000. That range is an employer careers-page figure. It is not a London NQ conversion and it is not a US class-year grid.
  • England qualification is SQE-gated. The SRA, updated 26 January 2024 and August 2025, requires SQE1, SQE2, two years' qualifying work experience and a suitability check. The firm's own early-careers FAQs, accessed 11 September 2026, screen at AAB and a 2:1, recruit London and Manchester training contracts via vacation schemes, run a direct England training contract from Bristol in Energy and Construction, and close most 2026 program applications on 19 November 2026, non-rolling. Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for trainees is London and Bristol only.

Matching this print is a carrier, managing-agent and public-indemnity problem. It is not a Magic Circle general counsel's lockstep problem, and it is not a government Grade 7 substitute.

  • In-house respondents already split the product. In the same cohort, 47 of 91 in-house counsel and general counsel respondents at UK composite insurers, managing agents and London-market carriers over 24 months said they would match a mid-level coverage or casualty print and would not match Magic Circle NQ for a first in-house claims or coverage seat.
  • The City still keeps a Group GC on the composite payroll. Aviva plc's general-counsel contact page, accessed 11 September 2026, puts a Group general counsel in the City of London. Lloyd's joining guide for managing agents, accessed the same day, states that a managing agent is authorized by the PRA and regulated by the PRA and the FCA, with SMF resource plans. FCA Handbook SUP 10C.6, last updated 23 October 2025, names SMF16 Compliance Oversight and SMF23b Conduct risk oversight (Lloyd's). A solicitor may hold SMF16 if approved; the gate is FCA approval, not a law-firm partnership.
  • Public-body volume is measured, and it is not Clyde's allocation. NHS Resolution, on 21 January 2022, appointed 11 firms to a Lot 1 claims panel from 1 March 2022, including this firm. A Find a Tender VEAT of 18 February 2026 extends those contracts to 28 February 2027 while a 2026 procurement runs, and records 13,784 clinical and 3,359 non-clinical cases received in 2024/2025. The framework envelope cited in that notice is not this firm's spend. In-house case handlers at the ALB investigate; panel solicitors conduct the litigation.
  • Reinsurance buyers are named by type, not as a salary scale. The firm's own reinsurance page, accessed 11 September 2026, lists international (re)insurance companies and leading London-market syndicates and companies as clients, across aviation, casualty, energy, financial institutions and D&O, marine, professional indemnity and property. That is who pays the coverage partner. It is not a published NQ grid.
05 What is not on the page

Bonus, partner pay, and the lockstep that is not public

The NQ ceiling is a retention instrument. The mid-level lockstep, the 2026 bonus rate and this year's profit per equity partner are the three things a general counsel actually needs to match a 4 PQE hire, and none of them is public.

In the same cohort, 31 of 74 newly qualified and 1–3 PQE respondents at UK insurance-and-disputes firms over an 18-month window named unpublished mid-level bands, not the NQ ceiling, as the reason they were testing the market. A published PQE lockstep is not a price, because it does not exist. A process that quotes a 4 PQE Clyde band is using an internal number. This page will not guess one.

The last fully dated bonus rule is four years old. Legal Cheek, on 20 January 2022, reported London NQ raised from £70,000 to £80,000, a 14 percent step, with a chargeable-hours bonus increased to a maximum of 25 percent for those hitting the highest threshold, plus a referral bonus for new work. The Lawyer the same day printed the same figures and a four-year trainee and NQ table. City A.M., on 21 January 2022, quoted a firm spokesperson on that 25 percent maximum. No 2025 or 2026 public restatement of that cap was in the research for this page. Do not carry 25 percent into a 2026 offer letter.

The last firm-disclosed profit per equity partner is £739,000 for FY2023/24, published by Global Legal Post on 12 July 2024, up 4.4 percent from £708,000, next to revenue of £845 million and profit of £174.4 million. Global Legal Post, on 8 August 2025, stated the firm did not disclose PEP for the then-latest year and reminded readers of that £739,000 figure. The Law Gazette Top-50 live tables, updated 8 July 2025 and 20 August 2026, leave the Clyde PEP cell blank. FY2025/26 profit was £160 million, down 9.86 percent from £177.5 million, as the Law Gazette reported on 10 August 2026 next to the £857 million revenue print. Legal Cheek's 2026 profile still prints PEP as £739,000 — the last disclosed year, not a 2026 PEP. Do not divide £160 million by 500 partners. The equity-partner count for FY26 is not in the firm release.

06 The work that prices the table

What actually pays an insurance-and-disputes seat in 2026

An NQ hike is a retention response. The 2026 files that justify matching a coverage or casualty lawyer — and that argue against treating the NQ as Magic Circle leftover — sit in a statute calendar, a mega-trial cycle, and a softer premium year.

Statute and forumThe seat that actually moves

  1. New arbitration law Seat-default to English law, summary disposal, narrower s.67. Coverage and London-seated (re)insurance clauses for counsel and experienced associates, not NQ process work.
  2. Coverage mega-files War-risks, aviation lessor policies, sanctions. Partners and seniors through the appeal and the operator-policy trial still listed.
  3. Volume and regulatory Regional casualty and LCCC after the July 2025 floors; SMF16 and Solvency UK on the carrier side. NQ commodity pricing does not capture either.

The Arbitration Act 2025 received Royal Assent on 24 February 2025. Remaining provisions came into force on 1 August 2025 by SI 2025/905. New s.6A of the 1996 Act sets the law of the arbitration agreement to the law the parties expressly choose, else the law of the seat; a choice of law for the matrix contract is not an express choice for the clause. The LCIA's note on the Act maps a statutory continuing disclosure duty, summary award where there is no real prospect of succeeding, court-enforceable peremptory orders from emergency arbitrators, s.44 orders against third parties, and a narrower s.67 review. Amendments do not apply to arbitrations commenced before 1 August 2025. The hiring consequence is mid- to senior insurance coverage and London-seated arbitration associates, from August 2025, not a newly qualified lockstep.

A Practice Note dated 6 June 2025, in force 1 July 2025, raised the Commercial Court transfer threshold from about £5 million to £7 million and the London Circuit Commercial Court floor from £500,000 to £1 million. That reallocation is why 2024–25 insurance filings look quiet while trials listed in the Commercial Court rose 17 percent to 111, as the February 2026 court report records. High-value coverage stays in the Commercial Court. Mid-value insurance and professional-indemnity volume moves to the LCCC and to regional casualty.

AerCap Ireland Ltd v AIG Europe SA [2025] EWHC 1430 (Comm), 11 June 2025, is the 2026 insurance-and-disputes table in one judgment. Stewarts, on 13 June 2025, reported a covered loss on 10 March 2022, War-Risks responding to a US$1.2 billion aggregate, and US and EU sanctions not barring payment, with operator-policy claims listed for trial in late 2026. 7KBW, on 2 April 2026, reported that the Court of Appeal on 31 March 2026 granted war-risks insurers permission to appeal. Solomonic's 2025 wrap put the award at over US$1 billion plus US$240 million in interest. Clyde & Co's Financial Results 2025 infographic records insurer-side work on lessor claims in the same cycle, including a judgment dismissing a c. US$195 million All-Risks contingent and possessed claim. NQ commodity pricing does not capture that book. Aviation insurance, war-risks, sanctions and coverage partners and 4–8 PQE associates stay busy through 2026–27.

Covid business-interruption limitation is a one-off, not a hiring boom. FCA v Arch Insurance (UK) Ltd [2021] UKSC 1, 15 January 2021, substantially allowed the FCA's appeal on disease and prevention-of-access wordings. The Limitation Act 1980 six-year clock from March 2020 lockdown losses therefore started to bite in March 2026. The FCA, in a 23 January 2026 letter, refused to reinstate stop-the-clock guidance or bar limitation defenses. Solomonic counted 168 ongoing BI disputes in 2025, with new filings still declining. Expect a run-off of existing files, not a 2026–28 NQ boom.

R (PACCAR Inc) v Competition Appeal Tribunal remains the law. The Law Gazette, on 4 September 2026, reported that a minister told the Lords there is still no date for legislation to clarify litigation funding agreements. That removes, for now, a funded-collective-action boom that would have pulled disputes lawyers into claimant class-action shops. Cyclically, Swiss Re Institute sigma 2/2026 forecasts non-life real premium growth of 0.6 percent in 2026. Lloyd's 2026 market-submission guidance, in the 19 March 2026 pack, is GWP of £64 billion plus or minus 5 percent at a combined ratio of 90 to 95 percent. Softer premium growth shifts hiring toward coverage, casualty volume and regulatory seats, not undifferentiated NQ intake.

On the company side of the same table, PRA PS18/26, July 2026, sets Solvency UK reporting implementation for reference dates on or after 31 December 2026, relevant to UK Solvency II firms, the Society of Lloyd's and managing agents. That is in-house legal and regulatory counsel and SMF16-adjacent seats at carriers, not a junior disputes hire. Consumer Duty has been in force for open products since 31 July 2023 and closed products since 31 July 2024; the FCA page updated 5 August 2026 restates that the Duty does not apply to reinsurance or large-risk commercial contracts. Large-risk and reinsurance disputes desks are outside that hiring story. Hyperscaler AI capital expenditure of USD 750 billion in 2026, as Reinsurance News restated Swiss Re on 8 July 2026, is a cyber, construction and property-coverage argument for mid-levels as data centers commission — not a London NQ lockstep driver. FY2026 growth was also dented by the firm's Australia resize, still cited in the 7 August 2026 release, and by Q4 conflict conditions in the Middle East; neither is a London NQ commodity story.

07 For the company

How a general counsel should run a Clyde-scale hire

The ceiling is only useful if the brief is honest about which product you are buying: a City NQ, a regional casualty seat, a 4 PQE coverage lawyer whose pounds you cannot see, or a US state-barred trial-and-defense associate.

Of those 21 company-side files, 9 needed a second shortlist after the first-choice candidate used the 12-working-day offer window to shop a Magic Circle or US-London print against Clyde's up-to-£90,000 ceiling. That is the finding that does not flatter the desk. The 2026 window is real for a general counsel who will not match £150,000. It is leaky for a company that opens on the NQ poster and then discovers the candidate wanted coverage pounds, or Magic Circle pounds, all along. Counter-offer incidence on that London associate desk is 35 percent; that rate is a defense cost, not a compliment.

A head of legal at a dual-regulated Lloyd's managing agent described the same constraint from the other side of the table: the SMF plan will fund a coverage counsel who can sit with claims and the underwriter, and will not fund a Magic Circle newly qualified hire who has never opened a slip. That is not a theory about lockstep. It is how a managing-agent budget actually clears. The 12-day offer-to-acceptance window on our London associate telemetry is short enough that a candidate who wants to shop the Magic Circle print can do it inside the process. Budget that. Do not be surprised by it.

A composite from the company-side majority: a specialty carrier's general counsel asked us to fill a 4 PQE insurance-coverage seat for warranty and indemnity, D&O and professional indemnity, reporting into the Group GC, with London-market panel experience. The board would fund a mid-level print and would not fund Magic Circle NQ. We closed the search in 8 weeks, inside the 6-to-12-week envelope. The candidate who wanted the NQ ranking argument was not the candidate this board was buying.

A second composite, from the slower end of the envelope: a listed UK composite's head of legal tried to fill a first in-house claims seat off the London NQ ceiling. The first-choice candidate used the 12-day window to shop a Magic Circle print. The file took 11 weeks, needed a second shortlist, and still completed inside the envelope. Opening on the commodity ranking cost a cycle. Naming coverage versus NQ at the first screening call would have saved it.

A third composite, from the regional book: a UK general insurer's head of legal wanted a catastrophic-injury associate in the South West, not a London NQ. Cash off the regional table is lower. The search is not cheaper when the shortlist has already seen the City ceiling. We closed in 7 weeks once the brief named Bristol casualty rather than "a Clyde solicitor."

  1. 01 · Which product? Write City NQ, regional casualty, 4 PQE coverage, or US trial-and-defense as separate briefs. If you cannot say which, you are not ready to open a search.
  2. 02 · Which print? Price against the August 2026 London ceiling and the September 2025 Magic Circle print, not against a hoped-for PQE grid. If the board will not fund £90,000, you are not matching this NQ table.
  3. 03 · Which desk? Name the file: financial lines, casualty, aviation war-risks, energy, construction, clinical negligence, SMF16. A generic Clyde-scale commercial lawyer produces a shortlist for a job you do not have.
  4. → All three answered? Then run the search on the 6-to-12-week clock, budget a 35 percent counter-offer, and put the unpublished mid-level question in the first screening call rather than the fourth.
  • Write the desk first. Coverage, casualty, trial-and-defense or NQ. Secondment-to-hire is a different brief from a permanent in-house seat.
  • Pull the published ceiling, not a rumor. Law360 on 19 August 2026 and Legal Cheek's September 2026 profile are the pounds. The firm's About page is not the census.
  • Budget the Magic Circle gap as a decision. £60,000 against £150,000 is a board paper. If you will not fund it, say so before the shortlist sees the number.
  • Ask what the mid-level print is. The firm does not publish it. A candidate who will not say what they earn at 4 PQE is not ready to be matched in-house.
  • Treat US coverage bands as a different payroll. A Colorado-barred coverage associate is not a London NQ conversion.

Sartori & Partners maps nearly 1.5 million lawyer profiles globally, with quarterly market surveys running since 2019. The London associate findings on this page — the 33 closed searches, the 35 percent counter-offer rate, the 12-day window, the 21 company-side files, the 9-of-21 second-shortlist rate — come from that program, not from a league table. The company-side route sits on our in-house counsel recruiting practice; the firm-side NQ and 1–3 PQE work sits on associate recruiting. What a chief legal officer costs on the company side sits on our general counsel salary 2026 benchmark.

Questions from both sides of the 2026 table

What is Clyde & Co salary for a newly qualified solicitor in 2026?

London newly qualified base is variable and can be up to £90,000 after Law360's 19 August 2026 hike. Legal Cheek's firm profile, accessed 11 September 2026, prints the same ceiling. The 29 September 2025 ranking still had a flat £85,000; the 11 November 2024 ranking had £80,000. Regional NQ is £38,000 in Belfast and £60,000 in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester. A year-by-year PQE scale is not public.

Does Clyde & Co publish a PQE associate lockstep?

No. A 1-to-8 PQE Clyde lockstep is not public in 2026. No ALM memo, Above the Law scorecard, Legal Cheek table or firm PDF publishes a year-1 through year-8 London or US associate grid. Treat any numbered mid-level band in a process as an internal print, not a published market table.

What bonus sits on Clyde & Co associate pay in 2026?

No 2025 or 2026 public restatement of the January 2022 25 percent chargeable-hours cap was found. Legal Cheek, The Lawyer and City A.M. dated that maximum, plus a referral bonus, to 20 and 21 January 2022. That architecture is four years old. Do not carry it into a 2026 offer as current.

What is Clyde & Co partner pay in 2026?

The last disclosed profit per equity partner is £739,000 for FY2023/24, published by Global Legal Post on 12 July 2024. The Law Gazette Top-50 tables for 2025 and 2026 leave the PEP cell blank. FY2025/26 profit was £160 million, down 9.86 percent. Do not divide that profit by 500 partners: the equity-partner count is not disclosed.

Should a general counsel match Clyde London NQ as a Magic Circle commodity?

No. Magic Circle London NQ sat at £150,000 on Legal Cheek's 29 September 2025 table; Clyde's 2026 ceiling is up to £90,000. That £60,000 published-base gap is real cash and a different product. Match a mid-level insurance coverage or casualty seat off this firm. Do not treat the NQ as a discarded Magic Circle clone.

How fast do London associate-to-in-house offers actually close?

Sartori's London associate desk records a median of 12 working days from offer to acceptance across 33 closed searches in three years. Counter-offer incidence on that line is 35 percent. Typical search 6 to 12 weeks. Completion 93 percent.

NQ figures are annual base salary before bonus, as published. The 2026 London figure is a ceiling (up to £90,000), not a lockstep. Clyde & Co does not publish a 1–8 PQE associate scale, a 2025 or 2026 bonus rate, or profit per equity partner for FY2024/25 or FY2025/26. The £739,000 PEP is FY2023/24. The About page's 'over 5,500 people' is undated marketing; the FY26 census is 4,977. Commercial Court insurance filings (33) are issued pleadings, not this firm's matter count. NHS framework value in the February 2026 VEAT is the 11-firm envelope, not a Clyde allocation. Denver $140,000–$190,000 is the employer's 14 August 2026 Workday posting.

Our own numbers — the interview cohort, the mandate telemetry, the counter-offer incidence and the offer-to-acceptance window — come from the continuous research program described on our research page.

Matching a coverage seat, or hiring the in-house chair that has to?

We map London associate and in-house insurance-and-disputes talent for companies that have to put a lawyer on the payroll, and we are as willing to tell you the NQ ceiling is the wrong print as to open a search. Confidential, no obligation.
