Lawyer Salary in Toronto 2026
Lawyer salary Toronto in 2026 still has no published Bay Street re-opener. The latest named large-firm bases are the March 2025 raise, about CAD 135,000 at year one and CAD 275,000 at year seven, converted here at the Bank of Canada print of 29 September 2026.

A general counsel pricing lawyer salary Toronto in 2026 is matching the March 2025 Bay Street raise: about CAD 135,000 for a first-year associate at named large firms, before bonus. No 2026 grid has been published. Sartori maps about 5,000 lawyers in Toronto; that file is how we see who sits on which side of the paycheck.
First-year base at named large Toronto firms after the March 2025 raise — CAD 135,000, or USD 95,151 at the Bank of Canada daily average of 29 September 2026. Not a 2026 re-opener. Globe and Mail ↗
CAD is the published unit. USD is a conversion at 1.4188 on 29 September 2026, not a second scale and not a 2026 raise. The full ledger sits in the next section.

Every lawyer salary Toronto figure on this ledger carries its year.
The sortable table dates every CAD figure. Where no 2026 edition exists, the year on the figure is the year of the source. USD is the 29 September 2026 Bank of Canada print.
The Globe and Mail reported on 4 March 2025 that large Toronto firms had raised associate base pay for the first significant time since 2021: about CAD 5,000 for early-year associates and CAD 15,000–20,000 for later years. At top-tier firms that reset a first-year associate to about CAD 135,000 before bonus and a seventh-year associate to about CAD 275,000 base. Named as having raised: Osler, Torys, Goodmans, Stikeman Elliott, McCarthy Tétrault, plus Norton Rose Fulbright Canada, Cassels, BLG, Fasken and Aird & Berlis. Davies and Blakes would not comment. Some firms use a band rather than a grid. Law.com International had already put the same first-year cell at CAD 135,000 on 19 February 2025.
Convert those two March 2025 bases at the Bank of Canada daily average of 29 September 2026 (1 USD = 1.4188 CAD) and they are USD 95,151 at year one and USD 193,826 at year seven. That USD column is derived. It is not a New York scale, and it is not a 2026 raise.

NALP’s Toronto first-year median of CAD 130,000 is a 1 January 2025 office-reported cell from the inaugural Canadian Associate Salary Survey (66 law offices). It predates the raise. No 2026 NALP Canadian survey was on nalp.org as of 30 September 2026. Job Bank’s CAD 69.74 hourly median is a Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey wage for all paid lawyers in the Toronto economic region, reference 2023–2024, wages updated 19 November 2025. No 2025–26 wage edition was posted. The LP ranges are the last published Treasury Board / Association of Justice Counsel scale, effective 10 May 2025. The agreement expired 9 May 2026, and the Treasury Board page does not post a successor scale. LAO rates are the non-Northern tariff from 1 April 2025. No 2026 LAO tariff was located. None of those series is a 2026 Bay Street re-opener.
LSO mandatory minimum, annualized
CAD 620 a week from 1 May 2023, times 52. Derived. A floor for articling and LPP, not a Toronto market rate.
Law Society of Ontario, Mandatory Minimum Compensation ↗Canadian Lawyer’s 16 February 2026 piece, citing its own five-city report, put a first-year average across Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver at CAD 94,375 and a general counsel five-city average at about CAD 196,112. Those are blended city averages, not a Toronto lockstep and not a Toronto in-house median. The Canada-wide table belongs to our lawyer salary in Canada 2026 sibling. This page keeps the Toronto cells.
We match the Bay Street first-year cell. We do not match Job Bank.
The associate earns it. The general counsel writes the matching check.
In-house counsel salary Toronto is not a second published grid. It is a matching rule. The Law Society snapshot shows why both readers sit in the same downtown.
Firm writes the lockstepCompany matches it
- Bay Street lockstep Seven Sisters and national full-service firms pay by year of call, or by a band that tracks it. The associate earns the cell on the firm’s payroll.
- In-house match Banks, pensions, listed issuers and the OSC legal desk hire the same people off that grid. The general counsel decides which year of the lockstep the seat is worth.
- Public grids Treasury Board LP, MAG ALOC, City Legal Services, LAO tariff. Different instruments. They do not reset the Bay Street cell, and they do not replace it on a company offer.
The Law Society of Ontario’s Statistical Snapshot from the 2024 Lawyer Annual Report puts, among licensees with sector recorded, law-firm associates at about 21 percent, in-house counsel at about 13 percent, government at about 15 percent, law-firm partners at about 13 percent and sole practitioners at about 18.5 percent. Under-35s are majority associates. The in-house share rises in the 35–54 bands. Of 20,005 firm lawyers in that snapshot, 21.5 percent sit in firms of 200 or more licensees — the world the CAD 135,000 cell actually describes — and 26.4 percent sit in firms of fewer than five, which do not pay that cell.
Job Bank’s Toronto-region mix, on the same NOC 41101 outlook page, puts 77 percent of Toronto-region lawyers in professional, scientific and technical services and 6 percent in finance, insurance, real estate and rental and leasing. Recent trends on that page, updated 28 July 2026, describe 2023–2025 as balanced. The 2025–2027 outlook, updated 10 December 2025, is Moderate. The bank legal desk is smaller in headcount than Bay Street. It is the matching buyer. The Alberta wage page, wages updated 19 November 2025 and still on the 2023–2024 Labour Force Survey, puts the provincial median at CAD 78.85 an hour, above Toronto’s CAD 69.74. That is not a 2026 Calgary lockstep, and it is not a reason to talk a Toronto general counsel off the March 2025 first-year base.
NALP’s national lockstep by firm size, as of 1 January 2025, makes the same point from the other side of the table. No 2026 edition of that survey was published. In firms of 301 or more lawyers the 2017-call median was CAD 233,750 (24 offices); in firms of 100 or fewer it was CAD 176,500 (10 offices). Offices of more than 100 lawyers reported a CAD 130,000 first-year median; boutiques reported CAD 127,500. A general counsel matching a Seven Sister lateral is not matching a 100-lawyer national median. The Law Society of Ontario’s Annual Report 2025 counted 61,861 lawyer licensees, 46,652 lawyers practicing law, and 2,942 lawyers licensed in the report year. That is the provincial stock. It is not a Toronto payroll, and it is not a salary grid. Sector shares above remain the 2024 snapshot. No 2025 statistical snapshot was on the Law Society site as of 30 September 2026.
Across 250 structured interviews with Toronto associates and in-house counsel, 71 of 94 general counsel, chief legal officers and heads of legal at Toronto-HQ companies, over a 24-month window, told Sartori they now match first-year Bay Street base within CAD 5,000 when they hire a 3–5 year corporate or funds lawyer off a large firm. A general counsel at a Toronto-headquartered pension plan put the rule without decoration: they match the Bay Street first-year cell; they do not match Job Bank. A head of legal at a federally regulated bank said the department will not post a band until it has decided whether the seat is matching year-three or year-seven lockstep.
Legal 500 Canada’s 2026 editor’s notes still list the Seven Sisters that dominate Toronto corporate as Blake, Cassels & Graydon; Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg; Goodmans; McCarthy Tétrault; Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt; Stikeman Elliott; and Torys. Goodmans is Toronto-only. Osler’s careers page, accessed in 2026, puts the firm at 6 offices and 550 legal professionals. Blakes’ Toronto board in August 2026 was advertising a Financial Services / Aviation associate and an Intellectual Property associate — practice labels, not a census. On the company side, Royal Bank of Canada’s 2025 Annual Information Form places corporate headquarters at Royal Bank Plaza, 200 Bay Street, Toronto. CPP Investments’ F2025 annual report places its headquarters in Toronto with a global team of 2,125 employees (all staff, not lawyers only). CBA In-House Lawyers, rebranded on 9 July 2025, counts 5,000 members nationwide, with a Toronto-centered calendar including the 8 October 2026 in-house celebration.
Your job is to write a number the candidate is already sitting on, not a number a labor-market table will forgive at the board.
- Name the lockstep year. Year-three and year-seven are different products. A head of legal who will not say which one is not ready to open the search.
- Budget the counter-offer. Large firms defend the grid they just raised, and they do it on a clock measured in working days, not in board cycles.
- Do not open on Job Bank. The occupation-wide median is a Statistics Canada wage, not a competing offer from a Seven Sister.
- Put CAD on the letter. Add USD only as a conversion at the Bank of Canada print you are willing to date. A second currency is not a raise.
- Decide the desk, then the number. Competition, trade, funds and insolvency seats are what 2026 is buying. A first-year generalist is a different requisition.
The paycheck in front of you is the March 2025 year-of-call base, plus a bonus you cannot yet read, converted at a print you do not control.
- Read the as-of date. CAD 135,000 is a March 2025 raise still standing in 2026, not a 2026 re-opener.
- Ask what bonus is in writing. Last year’s bonus season is not a promise, and a company that will not write the rule is asking you to guess.
- Watch class-year credit. A company match that silently sets you back a year is a pay cut on a lockstep, whatever the title says.
- Treat USD as FX. A USD line is the CAD cell at the Bank of Canada print, not a second raise.
- The student week is not the associate cell. Articling pay is a January 2025 pipeline number. It is not the March 2025 lockstep a general counsel matches.
The March 2025 base is being spent on fewer desks than the lockstep implies.
A first-year generalist still earns CAD 135,000 at the named firms, on the March 2025 raise. The general counsel matching that figure in 2026 is more often buying competition, trade, funds, M&A and financial-services regulatory seats.
Volume desksWhere the March 2025 base is spent
- Family and routine civil Small Claims jurisdiction rose and a paralegal family authorization is in force. That work is moving down-market. It does not price the CAD 135,000 cell.
- Lockstep generalist The first-year cell still exists. It is not where a company matching seventh-year money is shopping.
- Specialist mid-to-senior Competition and merger review, foreign-investment screens, customs and trade, funds and client-focused reforms, insolvency on the Commercial List, OSFI vendor contracts.
Private access to the Competition Tribunal, including monetary payments to affected persons, came into force on 20 June 2025 under the June 2024 Competition Act amendments the Bureau summarized on 25 June 2024. In fiscal 2024–25 the Bureau’s Merger Intelligence and Notification Unit recorded 247 notification and ARC-request filings, up 31 percent from 200 the year before; 41 percent of concluded reviews were complex, averaging 44.46 days. Depository credit intermediation was 8 percent of the complex-review mix — a bank-desk signal for Toronto in-house M&A counsel as much as for firm competition groups.
Investment Canada Act filings in fiscal 2024–25 reached 1,138 (third-highest on the series), with 1,128 notifications, 10 net-benefit approvals and 30 extended national-security reviews (one Governor-in-Council wind-up, six undertakings, nine withdrawals, 14 no further action). ISED’s 5 March 2025 national-security guidelines add an economic-security lens and a Sensitive Technology List. The 2026 net-benefit thresholds, in the Canada Gazette, Part I, of 24 January 2026, put WTO private-sector enterprise value at CAD 1.452 billion, trade-agreement private-sector enterprise value at CAD 2.179 billion, and WTO state-owned enterprise asset value at CAD 578 million. Most WTO and CUSMA deals stay in the notification-plus-national-security-screen bucket. That is a 5-plus-year foreign-investment seat in Toronto, firm-side and pension in-house, not a junior generalist requisition. The same June 2024 amendments require adequate and proper testing for product environmental claims — a greenwashing file that sits with competition and advertising counsel, not with a first-year corporate generalist.
The cyclical overlay is live. The Prime Minister recalled negotiators to Ottawa on 22 August 2026. CBSA Customs Notice 26-23, dated 7 September 2026, applies the United States Surtax Order (2026) from 8 September 2026 at 15, 25 or 50 percent of value for duty. An Osler trade note dated 10 September 2026 (firm publication; authors omitted) records the U.S. side of the same week. Immediate demand sits in international trade, customs and supply-chain seats at firms and in-house at manufacturers, auto parts and banks. The next two to four quarters add tariff-driven restructuring risk. Ontario already led CCAA volume in 2025 with 25 of 70 filings nationally, then 7 of 20 in Q1 2026 and 6 of 22 in Q2 2026, per the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy.
Capital-markets fuel is still Toronto-centered. TMX’s 2025 annual report put combined TSX and TSXV equity raised at CAD 33.4 billion; the December 2025 MiG Report put the same year at CAD 33.3 billion, with Ontario hosting 1,911 listed-company headquarters. Crosbie & Company counted 171 Ontario-target M&A deals in Q1 2026, the most active province by count, inside 680 announced Canadian transactions. Legal 500’s 2026 editor’s notes cite federal gross bond issuance projected at C$316 billion in 2025–26 against C$241 billion in 2024–25. CSA/CIRO Staff Notice 31-368, published 10 December 2025, is the Client Focused Reforms sweep that funds and dealer legal teams are operationalizing. OSFI Guideline B-10 has been in force since 1 May 2024; 2026 work is vendor-contract remediation, not a future effective date.
The Ontario Securities Commission’s 2024–2025 annual report (posted February 2026) assessed 2,187 enforcement cases, recorded CAD 107,180,487 in Capital Markets Tribunal monetary penalties, and reported 679 FTE staff in 2025. About 1,300 crypto-asset complaints were referred; four crypto enforcement matters concluded with about CAD 86 million in sanctions. That is a Toronto public-body legal desk and a defense-side securities docket, not the lockstep payer. Courts Digital Transformation went live in Toronto in October 2025 for family and civil; the Ontario Courts Public Portal recorded more than 20,000 new registered users and more than 100,000 filing submissions since launch. Small Claims new proceedings exceeded 62,000 in each of 2024 and 2025, and the monetary jurisdiction rose to CAD 50,000 on 1 October 2025. A joint statement of the Attorney General and the former Chief Justice on 28 May 2026 said Civil Rules Review will land in stages in 2026, not as a single three-track overhaul. That lift and that retooling year matter to disputes associates and MAG civil counsel. They do not price the CAD 135,000 cell. The Law Society’s Family Legal Services Provider authorization does the same for a slice of family work; the first full-time cohort was 90 students in the Law Society of Ontario’s 2024 annual report, with a 2026 Fanshawe intake. Wage-fixing and no-poach agreements have been a criminal offense for unaffiliated employers since 23 June 2023 — an employment-and-competition overlay for franchise and multi-employer general counsel, not a first-year lockstep driver.
The Bank of Canada held the overnight target at 2.25 percent on 2 September 2026, after cuts in September and October 2025. The next fixed announcement is 28 October 2026. Cheaper money is a backdrop. It is not, by itself, an associate-class expansion, and it is not a salary grid. Stikeman Elliott’s Ottawa office closed in November 2025, per Legal 500 editor’s notes: some federal-facing corporate capacity consolidates to Toronto rather than a new Ottawa class. That is a one-clause contrast with the Toronto associate market.
The USD line is not a raise. It is the same paycheck at yesterday’s Bank of Canada print.
The search is a matching problem, not a market-survey problem.
Sartori has worked the Toronto associate line for 8 years. Over the trailing three years the desk closed 23 associate searches at a 93 percent completion rate. The uncomfortable files were the company mandates that opened on the wrong published number.
2021 last raise2026 still matching 2025
- Flat grid Four years without a significant Bay Street base reset. Candidates and companies argued from a stale cell.
- March 2025 raise Named large firms moved first-year base to about CAD 135,000 and seventh-year base to about CAD 275,000. The survey median had not yet caught up.
- 2026 matching year No 2026 grid has been published. The general counsel who fills a seat this year is matching the March 2025 raise.
Of 23 closed Toronto associate searches over three years, 14 were private-practice lockstep seats (years 1–7 at Seven Sisters and national full-service firms) and 9 were in-house or public-body matching seats at banks, pensions or OSC-adjacent desks. Of those 14 firm-side files, 8 were corporate, funds or M&A, 3 were disputes or insolvency, and 3 were financial services, tax or employment. Counter-offer incidence on the Toronto associate line is 36 percent. Typical time-to-fill is 6 to 12 weeks; the median offer-to-acceptance window on that line is the 8 working days already on the grid above.
Of those 23 closed files, 6 ran past twelve weeks. All six were in-house matching mandates where the general counsel opened against the occupation-wide Job Bank median rather than the March 2025 Bay Street base. That is the segment where this desk places slowly, and it is the finding that cuts against the easy story. The 2023–2024 occupation-wide wage is not a competing offer. Treating it as one burns a quarter.
Sartori maps 1,480,000+ lawyer profiles globally. In Toronto the mapping file covers about 5,000 lawyers. Admission and employer are on that file. Bonus and long-term incentive are not, which is why all-in cash on a company seat is not read off the mapping alone. In Sartori’s 2026 Q2 Toronto survey wave, 41 of 58 in-house respondents who disclosed a matching rule said they now convert the Bay Street first-year base at the Bank of Canada daily rate when the offer letter is dual-currency.
Three composite mandates
A Toronto-HQ pension, funds counsel. The plan needed Ontario-qualified counsel for fund investments, co-investments and M&A, reporting into the legal function rather than a Seven Sister secondment. The seat was priced off the seventh-year Bay Street base, not a five-city magazine average. The file closed in 10 weeks. The incumbent firm made a counter-offer inside the 36 percent incidence; the candidate still moved. No names. No plan named.
A federally regulated bank, Senior Counsel M&A. The legal department wanted someone who had run public M&A and could manage external counsel, with LSO membership as the gate. The seat was treated as a match to senior lockstep plus a company premium, not as an associate-grid hire. 11 weeks, no counter-offer on the file. Composite.
A listed issuer that opened on Job Bank. The general counsel approved a band built from the occupation-wide hourly median, annualized. Candidates sitting on the CAD 135,000–275,000 March 2025 lockstep declined to engage. The search sat past 16 weeks and is one of the six files in the stall set. It closed only after the company reset the band to the March 2025 Bay Street base. That is the expensive way to learn the matching rule.
The pipeline into the associate market is an Ontario license. The Law Society’s Professional Development and Competence Division 2025 annual report (Convocation April 2026) recorded 3,286 newly registered lawyer candidates, 40 percent internationally trained, 2,344 articling starts, and 2,698 newly licensed lawyers (2,086 ceremonial calls plus 612 administrative). Of those articling placements, 1,458 were 10-month seats; 226 candidates sat in the TMU Law Practice Program. The LPP’s 2026–27 simulated course runs 24 August to 17 December 2026, with work placements — including in-house legal departments — from 4 January to 23 April 2027. Toronto articling for the 2027–28 cycle has Interview Week on 10–12 August 2026, with Offer Day on 12 August 2026 at 5 p.m.; the procedures bind law firms, company legal departments, government ministries and clinics alike. A general counsel who wants a 2027 articling class is already on that calendar. Internationally trained candidates still go through the Federation of Law Societies’ National Committee on Accreditation before the LSO; the NCA initial assessment is posted at 6–8 weeks and CAD 400 plus HST.
The service view of the associate book sits on our associate recruiting page. Companies filling the matching in-house seat should start from a confidential brief, not from a job-board scrape of the occupation-wide median.
Base is the part both readers can see. It is not the offer.
A general counsel who compares only published base, and an associate who does the same, will mis-rank every live offer in this market.
NALP’s public May 2025 bulletin does not publish a Toronto in-house median, and it does not publish the staff-lawyer ranges that sit only in the full paid report. What it does publish, as of 1 January 2025, is a national first-year median of CAD 115,000 for associates called in 2024, and CAD 130,000 in offices of more than 100 lawyers. A five-city magazine blend should not be allowed to talk a Toronto general counsel down from the March 2025 large-firm base. No 2026 NALP survey replaces those medians.
Federal LP-01 steps run CAD 93,262 to CAD 128,628 on the scale effective 10 May 2025; LP-03 runs CAD 165,373 to CAD 228,084; LP-04 CAD 187,655 to CAD 244,642. That is the last scale on the Treasury Board page. The agreement expired 9 May 2026, and no successor rates were posted as of 30 September 2026. A Department of Justice counsel in Toronto sits on that instrument. Legal Aid Ontario’s non-Northern hourly rates from 1 April 2025 run Tier 1 CAD 126.35, Tier 2 CAD 142.14, Tier 3 CAD 157.94, with a Complex Case Rate of CAD 186.44. No 2026 tariff was located. Those are roster fees, not associate salary. MAG Crown Counsel postings in 2026 described compensation as commensurate with legal experience, with many competitions Step 1 internal before external. City of Toronto Legal Services describes itself as the City’s in-house law firm, led by a City Solicitor — title only. None of those public seats resets the March 2025 Bay Street base a company has to match.
| Buyer | How they pay | What they match | Gate on the seat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seven Sister / national full-service | Lockstep or band plus bonus | The CAD 135,000 / 275,000 cells | LSO membership; transcripts still requested |
| Toronto-HQ bank legal department | Company payroll, often dual-currency | Year-three or year-seven lockstep, by seat | LSO membership |
| Toronto-HQ pension plan | Plan payroll | Bay Street mid-to-senior lockstep on funds / PE / real estate | Ontario qualification |
| Ontario Securities Commission | Public-body scale | Securities counsel, not the lockstep | LSO membership |
| MAG Crown counsel (ALOC) | Provincial ALOC scale | Commensurate with legal experience (posted as such) | Often Step 1 internal before external |
| Federal LP counsel in Toronto | Treasury Board LP grid | LP-01 through LP-05, last scale effective 10 May 2025 | Federal public-service appointment |
| LAO roster / clinic | Tariff or clinic scale | The 1 April 2025 hourly schedule, not Bay Street | Roster membership; not the CAD 135,000 cell |
The associate’s question and the general counsel’s, answered on the same cells.
Each answer opens with a number. The rest of the paragraph is the matching rule.
What does lawyer salary Toronto look like in 2026?
No 2026 Bay Street grid has been published. The latest named large-firm bases are the March 2025 raise: about CAD 135,000 first-year and CAD 275,000 at year seven, before bonus. The Globe and Mail reported those bases on 4 March 2025 as the first significant raise since 2021. Law.com International reported the same first-year figure on 19 February 2025. USD conversions use the Bank of Canada daily average of 29 September 2026 (1 USD = 1.4188 CAD).
How much do lawyers make in Toronto outside the large-firm grid?
Job Bank put the Toronto-region median for lawyers (NOC 41101) at CAD 69.74 an hour on the 2023–2024 Labour Force Survey. Wages on that page were updated 19 November 2025. No 2025–26 wage edition was posted. The series mixes private practice, in-house, government and other paid lawyers. It is not the Bay Street lockstep. Annualizing 40 hours over 52 weeks is a derived CAD 145,059 — an occupation-wide check, not an offer letter.
What is in house counsel salary Toronto in 2026?
There is no published Toronto-only in-house median. Canadian Lawyer’s 16 February 2026 five-city averages (in-house counsel CAD 136,500; general counsel CAD 196,112) are national blends, not a Toronto grid. Across 94 general counsel and heads of legal at Toronto-HQ companies in Sartori’s Toronto interview cohort, over a 24-month window, 71 said they now match first-year Bay Street base within CAD 5,000 when they hire a 3–5 year corporate or funds lawyer off a large firm.
Should a general counsel match Job Bank or the Bay Street cell?
Match the March 2025 Bay Street base for any seat hired off a large Toronto firm. Of 23 closed Toronto associate searches over three years, 6 ran past twelve weeks — all six were in-house matching files where the brief opened on the occupation-wide median. Job Bank is a 2023–2024 labor-market series. It is not a competing offer, and it is not a 2026 salary.
Do Toronto legal offers come in USD as well as CAD?
Convert at the Bank of Canada daily average of 1.4188 CAD per USD on 29 September 2026. The published bases are CAD, and the large-firm bases are dated March 2025. That print turns CAD 135,000 into USD 95,151 and CAD 275,000 into USD 193,826. A USD line on an offer letter is a conversion, not a 2026 raise.
How long does a Toronto associate or matching in-house search take?
Sartori’s Toronto associate desk typically fills in 6 to 12 weeks, with a median of 8 working days from offer to acceptance and a 93 percent completion rate on 23 closed searches over three years. Counter-offer incidence on that line is 36 percent. The files that ran past twelve weeks were the in-house matching mandates opened on the wrong published number.

Top-tier bases come from the Globe and Mail and Law.com. Survey medians come from NALP. Occupation-wide wages come from Job Bank and Statistics Canada. USD comes from the Bank of Canada. Matching behavior comes from Sartori's Toronto associate program.

Sartori figures come from the Toronto associate program. Public cells come from the Globe and Mail, Law.com, NALP, Job Bank, the Treasury Board LP agreement, Legal Aid Ontario, the Law Society of Ontario, the Competition Bureau, ISED, the OSC, TMX, Crosbie, CBSA and the Bank of Canada. USD is CAD divided by 1.4188 on 29 September 2026. Hourly and weekly figures are annualized only where labeled derived. Where no 2026 edition of a salary series exists, the year on the figure is the year of the source.
Compensation data is general information, not financial, career or legal advice. Actual pay varies by firm, company, year of call, bonus eligibility, hours and FX. The LSO Toronto electoral-region share (55.5 percent of 48,520 licensees with region recorded in the 2024 snapshot, about 26,900 lawyers) is a regulator geography. Job Bank’s 36,550 is an economic-region employment level. They are not the same stock, and neither is a payroll census of Bay Street.
