Our client, a leading Canadian law firm, is seeking an Associate to join its disputes group in Toronto. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated commercial litigation and arbitration matters.

The ideal candidate will have 1–4 years of experience and be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Experience in commercial disputes—including contractual disputes, banking litigation, shareholder disputes, injunctive relief, competition litigation, and real estate disputes—is preferred.

Strong advocacy, legal research, and drafting skills are essential, along with excellent judgment, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will assist with complex trials and arbitrations, argue motions and applications, attend court hearings (including pre-trial and case conferences), conduct examinations for discovery, prepare witnesses, draft pleadings and motions, and provide legal opinions and strategic advice on dispute resolution.

1–4 years of litigation or dispute resolution experience
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
Experience in commercial disputes (contractual, banking, shareholder, injunctive relief, competition, or real estate litigation)
Strong advocacy, legal research, and drafting skills
Excellent judgment, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work collaboratively within a team
