Senior associate role within a finance & projects team in Tokyo, supporting a broad range of lending and project finance matters. Work will include acquisition finance, syndicated lending and other banking/finance transactions for domestic and cross-border clients.

The role requires taking responsibility for discrete workstreams under partner supervision: drafting and negotiating transactional documents, managing timelines and coordinating with other offices and external counsel. The team works on high-quality, often international matters and values collaborative execution and clear client communication.

Japan-qualified lawyer (bengoshi)
Typically 3–6 years PQE (flexible for a strong fit)
Demonstrable experience in lending, project finance and/or acquisition finance within a law firm
Native-level Japanese and strong working proficiency in English (drafting and participation in international calls/emails)
Ability to run workstreams, draft/review transaction documents and manage deadlines collaboratively
