Leading Tokyo law firm is seeking an English-qualified finance associate to join a busy, cross-border finance team. The role involves front-line drafting and negotiation of English-language loan, asset and project finance and securitisation documentation, with significant exposure to Japanese lending and capital markets.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior finance lawyers on a range of domestic and international financings and will be supported in obtaining foreign lawyer registration in Japan where regulatory conditions permit. Japanese language ability is not required; candidates should have a genuine interest in working in Japan long-term.

2–4 years' post-qualification experience in a reputable finance practice
Qualified in Australia, New Zealand or England & Wales
Proven experience drafting and negotiating finance documentation (loans, asset/project finance, securitisations)
Native-level English and willingness to commit to working in Japan for at least two years
