Our client, a leading independent Australian law firm, is seeking an experienced Lawyer or Associate to join its thriving General Insurance practice in Sydney. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with a highly regarded national team.

The role focuses on property matters (both liability and defence), along with other general insurance matters, including some professional indemnity exposure. You will act for a range of leading national and international insurers, managing your own files with appropriate supervision.

Key responsibilities include:

Drafting client advices and legal correspondence
Reviewing documents and preparing evidence
Conducting legal research
Conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements
Preparing briefs for counsel and attending court
Instructing and conferencing with expert witnesses

We are looking for candidates with at least 18 months of post-admission experience in general insurance law (such as recoveries, liability defence, or professional indemnity). Strong experience in recoveries and property damage liability claims is highly regarded. You will have clear, concise legal writing skills, outstanding attention to detail, and a collaborative 'can do' attitude.
