Emerging Growth & Venture Capital Associate — Chicago

An established international law firm is seeking an associate to join its Emerging Growth & Venture Capital group in its Chicago office. The role centers on representing emerging growth companies and the institutional investors that support them.

The associate will handle venture capital financings for both issuers and investors, work on M&A transactions, and advise emerging companies on a range of day-to-day corporate matters. Responsibilities scale with experience and include legal research and analysis, drafting and negotiating transaction documents, managing matters from inception through closing, and building strong client relationships.

Candidates will collaborate with lawyers and business professionals across the platform to develop effective transaction strategies and deliver high-quality, timely work in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction
• At least 2 years of emerging growth and venture capital experience
• Experience representing both institutional investors and issuers in venture capital financings
• Experience with M&A transactions and advising emerging companies on day-to-day corporate matters
• Strong legal research, drafting, analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently, and to manage competing demands under pressure
• Prior Am Law 100 experience preferred
