Apply in confidence →Join a leading energy practice at a top-tier law firm in the Netherlands. We are looking for an experienced energy lawyer to advise clients on the energy transition. You will take a central role at the intersection of litigation, advisory work, and contracting in a rapidly evolving sector.
Your work will include advising clients such as energy companies, governments, housing corporations, and project developers on energy regulations, including the Dutch Energy Act, the upcoming Collective Heat Supply Act, and EU legislation on renewable energy. You will lead contract formation for major sustainable energy projects, covering cooperation, PPA, transport, exploitation, and connection agreements. You will also represent clients in energy disputes, such as tariff and connection issues or enforcement proceedings by regulators, and contribute to knowledge development through publications, presentations, and working groups.
- Completed Dutch legal professional training (beroepsopleiding) and 4–10 years of relevant experience as a lawyer or in a comparable role (e.g., government, project developer, or consultancy).
- Demonstrable experience in energy law, ideally with a focus on regulatory aspects (tariff and access regulation, generation, storage, transport, and supply of energy) and/or the drafting and negotiation of energy contracts such as PPAs, transport, connection, and supply agreements.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Dutch Energy Act, the upcoming Collective Heat Supply Act, and EU renewable energy regulations—or a strong motivation to acquire this knowledge quickly.
- Litigation experience in energy matters, for example tariff or connection disputes or enforcement cases, is a plus.
- Interest in and affinity with legal AI tools and their application in legal practice.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both oral and written.
- A team player who inspires colleagues and thinks entrepreneurially, with the ability to contribute to the growth of the practice and client portfolio.
