Join a large, full-service international law firm’s intellectual property practice in Palo Alto as an associate focused on technology matters. The role involves patent-focused work across prosecution, litigation support and transactional IP matters under attorney supervision.

Typical responsibilities include preparing and prosecuting patent applications, drafting responses to patent office communications, conducting patent and literature searches, coordinating with foreign counsel, and assisting with opinions and analyses related to patentability, validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate.

The team works closely with inventors and litigators on technical matters and special projects; candidates should be prepared for a mix of drafting, research and collaborative client-facing work.

Strong technical or scientific background (engineering, computer science, physics or similar)
Experience with patent prosecution tasks: drafting applications, preparing office-action responses, and conducting patentability/landscape searches
Excellent drafting, analytical and research skills; ability to work collaboratively with inventors and supervising attorneys
