Apply in confidence →We are seeking a talented associate to join our growing Intellectual Property, Tech & Commercial practice in London. This is a fast-paced, transactional role offering exposure to complex, often cross-border matters, with close collaboration across practice groups and international offices.
You will advise clients on a broad range of non-contentious IP, IT, technology, and commercial contracting issues, supporting transactions such as M&A, joint ventures, and carve-outs, as well as drafting and negotiating complex agreements. The work is varied and intellectually demanding, and we are looking for someone who is a quick learner, a strong team player, and excited by opportunities for professional growth.
This is an ideal role for an ambitious lawyer with solid commercial contracts experience who wants to deepen their IP and technology expertise within a supportive, global environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Advise clients on IP, IT, technology, and commercial contract law across a variety of sectors.
- Draft and negotiate complex technology and strategic commercial agreements, including distribution, reseller, manufacturing, supply, R&D, outsourcing, and transitional services contracts.
- Identify and pragmatically advise on IP risks in transactions, working effectively with colleagues across the firm.
- Manage aspects of complex IP matters and contribute to business development and client relationship building.
- Build a strong internal network, collaborate with other teams on transactions, and mentor junior lawyers.
- England & Wales (or other common law jurisdiction) qualified lawyer with approximately 3–5 years' PQE.
- Strong experience in commercial contracts, ideally with an emphasis on IP and/or technology matters; exposure to M&A support work is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of IP and commercial contract law and how they apply to corporate transactions, strategic projects, and technology contracts.
- Excellent drafting skills and intellectual acumen with a strong academic record.
- Positive role model for junior lawyers, willing to share knowledge and support their development.
- Ambition to contribute to the team's growth, with a sense of humour; international experience or client secondment is a plus but not essential.
