A global law firm
Apply in confidence →A lateral partner hire on this brief turns on what actually moves with you, far more than on any headline figure.
Our client, a leading international law firm, is expanding its Tokyo office as part of a strategic growth initiative and is seeking a lateral partner to join its dispute resolution practice. This is a newly created seat within the firm's broader Tokyo build-out, which also includes M&A and antitrust/regulatory hires.
The disputes practice handles a mix of international arbitration and commercial litigation, serving sophisticated domestic and international clients. The firm is committed to growing its Tokyo platform and is looking for a partner who can help build out this practice area.
Key requirements:
- Partner-level experience in dispute resolution, with a focus on international arbitration and/or commercial litigation.
- Japan-qualified lawyer (bengoshi) or foreign lawyer registered in Japan; permanent base in Tokyo.
- Strong track record in the Japan market, ideally with existing client relationships.
- Willingness to work from the Tokyo office four days per week.
- Portable book of business of $2M+ (USD)
If the fit is not obvious on paper, it is still worth a conversation — these mandates flex around the right practice.
