Apply in confidence →Our client, a prominent law firm with a strong presence in Melbourne, is seeking a Lawyer or Associate to join its Responsible Business & ESG practice. This role sits within the firm's Compliance & Regulatory team and offers the opportunity to advise clients on a broad range of ESG, sustainability, and regulatory compliance matters.
Working within a collaborative and dynamic environment, you will support senior practitioners in delivering practical, commercially focused advice to a diverse client base. The role provides exposure to emerging ESG frameworks, evolving regulatory expectations, and the integration of responsible business practices into corporate strategy.
This position is well suited to a lawyer with strong analytical skills and a genuine interest in the intersection of law, policy, and sustainability.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in providing advice on ESG-related regulatory compliance and reporting obligations
- Supporting the development and implementation of responsible business policies and frameworks
- Drafting and reviewing documents, including policies, guidelines, and client communications
- Conducting legal research on evolving ESG and regulatory developments
- Participating in client meetings and contributing to business development initiatives
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A relevant legal qualification and current practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Experience in compliance, regulatory, or ESG-related work (ideally within a law firm or in-house)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a team
