Managing Associate - Intellectual Property (London)

An established law firm is seeking a Managing Associate to join its brands-focused IP group in London. The group supports clients across the full life cycle of a brand, from creation and protection through to enforcement, advising on strategy that aligns legal and commercial objectives.

The role involves a varied mix of IP advisory and disputes work with a particular focus on soft IP matters, including trade marks, designs and copyright. Day-to-day responsibilities span portfolio management, worldwide filing and prosecution, enforcement, and registry dispute work before the UKIPO, EUIPO, WIPO and other international offices.

The successful candidate will work alongside partners and a multidisciplinary team of associates, trade mark attorneys and paralegals, with opportunities to contribute across the wider innovation department, including business development, client care, training, social impact and wellbeing initiatives.

• At least 5 years PQE gained in IP within private practice.
• Qualified solicitor or qualified trade mark attorney.
• Experience advising and leading on trade mark and design strategy, clearance, prosecution, monitoring, portfolio management and enforcement.
• Knowledge and experience of working with the UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO.
• Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload independently.
• Confident and personable, with a demonstrated interest in business development and team development.
