A nationally recognized data protection, privacy and security practice is seeking an experienced Of Counsel to join its team in Palo Alto. The role centers on advising emerging growth companies, venture-backed technology businesses, public technology companies, venture capital investors, and strategic acquirers throughout the corporate lifecycle.

The successful candidate will deliver practical, business-focused counsel on privacy, cybersecurity, AI governance, and product matters, working in close partnership with corporate, emerging growth and venture capital, M&A, employment, commercial contracting, and litigation colleagues to provide integrated advice on digital regulatory issues.

This is a hands-on counseling role that spans compliance program development, product launches, diligence for financings and transactions, and incident response — ideal for a lawyer who enjoys working directly with product, engineering, security, and executive teams.

Approximately 8–15 years of relevant privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, or regulatory counseling experience
Significant experience advising technology companies on privacy and data governance issues
Deep familiarity with California privacy laws, consumer privacy regulation, data security requirements, and emerging AI regulations
Experience supporting venture-backed companies, software or AI companies, cloud providers, or digital platforms
Strong drafting, negotiation, and client counseling skills
Ability to manage sophisticated matters independently while collaborating across practice groups
J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials; admission to the California Bar
