Apply in confidence →We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified patent agent or advisor with substantive industry experience and at least one year of law firm experience to join our busy patent counseling and prosecution practice. The ideal candidate will have a degree in material, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field) and possess broad scientific knowledge across mechanical and biomedical engineering. An advanced degree is a plus.
Duties include:
- Conducting prior art database searches for patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses
- Analyzing patent and scientific papers to assist attorneys in patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation
- Drafting patent applications and responses to office actions
The successful candidate must have superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English, demonstrate initiative, be a fast learner, and work well in a team. Registration as a US patent agent, or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam, is required.

The expected annual pay range for this position is $125,000–$228,000, dependent on geographic location, experience, and skillset.

- Broad scientific knowledge in mechanical and/or biomedical engineering
- Registered US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam
