A busy patent counseling, prosecution, and litigation practice is seeking a patent agent or advisor with a strong software and computer science background to join its New York team.

The role offers substantial exposure across the full patent lifecycle. Responsibilities include conducting prior art database searches to support patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, reviewing patents and scientific literature to assist attorneys with prosecution, counseling, and litigation, drafting patent applications and responses to office actions, and advising lawyers on technical issues in preparation for depositions.

This is a hands-on position for someone with genuine industry experience who enjoys working closely with attorneys on complex technology questions. Candidates interested in pursuing a legal career are supported with law school tuition assistance.

Degree and substantive industry experience in software, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
Broad scientific knowledge in computer science or electrical engineering; expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning strongly preferred
Exceptional technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English
Initiative, fast learning ability, and a collaborative working style
Eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam and otherwise qualified for registration as a patent agent
