An established national law firm is seeking a Public Finance Counsel to join its recognized Public Finance Practice Group within its broader public and private infrastructure and real estate department. The group advises clients across the full spectrum of tax-exempt and taxable financings for nonprofit, higher education, for-profit, energy infrastructure, healthcare, and similar clients.

The Counsel will take a leading role on transactions, handling matters from structuring through closing with a high degree of independence. Day-to-day work includes reviewing, drafting, and analyzing underlying credit support, tax, construction, and management agreements; drafting and negotiating financing and offering documents, certificates, and opinions; and analyzing complex federal tax issues. The role also involves serving as a primary point of contact for clients, issuers, underwriters, lenders, and other working group members.

The position includes supervising and mentoring associates and paralegals, collaborating with partners to develop client relationships, and supporting the practice's business development efforts. Experience in public finance transactions, including tax-exempt and/or taxable financings
Ability to lead transactions from structuring through closing with independence
Strong drafting and negotiation skills for financing and offering documents, certificates, and opinions
Familiarity with federal tax issues relevant to public finance
Experience managing client and working-group relationships, and supervising junior team members
