Our client, a leading national law firm, seeks a Public Finance Counsel to join its nationally recognized Public Finance Practice Group, part of the firm's Public and Private Infrastructure & Real Estate Department. The group guides clients through all types of tax-exempt and taxable financings for nonprofit, higher education, for-profit, energy infrastructure, healthcare, and similar clients.

Attorneys in the practice handle every aspect of a financing or refinancing, including reviewing, drafting, and analyzing underlying credit support, tax, construction, and management agreements; drafting and negotiating all financing and offering documents, certificates, and opinions; and analyzing complex federal tax issues. The group's work across the healthcare, energy, higher education, waste-to-energy, recycling, governmental, and industrial sectors has earned it a top national reputation for complex tax-exempt and taxable financings.

The Counsel will take a leading role on transactions, handling matters from structuring through closing with a high degree of independence, and will serve as a primary point of contact for clients, issuers, underwriters, lenders, and other working group members. The role also includes supervising and mentoring associates and paralegals, working with partners to develop client relationships, and supporting the practice's business development efforts.

Experience in public finance, including tax-exempt and taxable financings
Strong drafting and negotiation skills for financing and offering documents, certificates, and opinions
Ability to analyze complex federal tax issues
Capacity to lead transactions independently from structuring through closing
Experience serving as primary client and working-group contact
Interest in supervising and mentoring junior attorneys and paralegals
