A nationally recognized Public Finance practice group is seeking a Counsel to join its team. The group sits within a broader public and private infrastructure and real estate department and guides clients through the full range of tax-exempt and taxable financings.

The practice serves non-profit, higher education, for-profit, energy infrastructure, healthcare, and similar clients across the healthcare, energy, higher education, waste-to-energy, recycling, governmental, and industrial sectors.

The Counsel will take a leading role on transactions, handling matters from structuring through closing with a high degree of independence. Responsibilities include reviewing, drafting, and analyzing credit support, tax, construction, and management agreements; drafting and negotiating financing and offering documents, certificates, and opinions; and analyzing complex federal tax issues.

The role also involves serving as a primary point of contact for clients, issuers, underwriters, lenders, and other working group members, supervising and mentoring associates and paralegals, and supporting client relationship development and business development efforts.

Demonstrated experience in public finance, tax-exempt and taxable financings, or closely related finance work
Ability to lead transactions independently from structuring through closing
Strong drafting and negotiation skills for financing and offering documents, certificates, and opinions
Facility with complex federal tax issues
Experience supervising and mentoring junior team members
Strong client-facing and business development skills
