Our Real Estate Finance group is seeking a midlevel associate with at least three years of law firm experience to join our Washington, D.C. or Baltimore office. The role focuses on representing lenders, servicers, borrowers, and government-sponsored enterprises in a broad range of commercial real estate finance transactions, including sophisticated, high-value deals.

Responsibilities include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating loan documents, subordination and standstill agreements, and related instruments; managing legal due diligence on complex ownership structures; and handling title, survey, zoning, leases, and legal opinions. The associate will manage transactions from origination through closing and, as matters grow in complexity, will supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals.

Ideal candidates will have experience with multifamily lenders and/or syndicated credit facilities, with exposure to multifamily housing, affordable housing, or hotel transactions. Familiarity with agency lending programs and GSE requirements is a plus. The role is suited for someone aiming to first-chair transactions and independently manage deal teams while developing junior talent.

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to the relevant state bar (in good standing)
  • Minimum 3 years of law firm experience in real estate finance or a directly related field
  • Strong transactional drafting, negotiation, and due diligence skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage deals independently and mentor junior team members
