Apply in confidence →National energy practice seeking a senior associate with 4–6 years' experience to join its Washington regulatory team. The role focuses on administrative litigation and regulatory counseling for energy sector clients, with substantial work before federal and state regulators.
Day-to-day matters include prosecuting and defending administrative litigation and enforcement actions before agencies such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state utility commissions; advising on regulatory approvals and compliance for pipelines, electric transmission, and market participants; and supporting transactional matters including power purchase agreements, trading agreements, and agreements for use of oil & gas infrastructure. The position offers exposure to both contentious and transactional regulatory work.
- 4–6 years' PQE in energy, utility or pipeline regulatory practice (administrative litigation or transactional experience)
- Experience representing clients before federal and/or state energy regulators (e.g., FERC)
- Experience with procurement/contracting (PPAs, trading agreements) and commercial agreements for pipeline or infrastructure use
- Strong drafting, oral advocacy, and client-counseling skills; ability to manage matters across litigation and transactional tracks
