A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join its Tier 1 Healthcare team in the Southampton office. The healthcare sector is undergoing rapid change due to an ageing global population and rising levels of lifestyle-related chronic disease, and this team is at the forefront of that transformation.

Our multidisciplinary global healthcare group brings together lawyers specialising in litigation, coroner's inquests, the Court of Protection, capacity and consent, projects and construction, real estate, corporate, insurance, intellectual property, commercial, IT, regulatory and employment. Clients include public and private hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, healthcare suppliers and distributors, healthcare companies, private equity firms specialising in healthcare investments, health ministries and authorities.

This is a collaborative, agile environment with hybrid working. The role involves handling complex legal problems, drafting and interpreting intricate documents, advising on claims involving breaches of professional standards, conducting legal discussions with clients and witnesses, and preparing court documents. You will also have opportunities to present at seminars, write for publications, host client events, identify new business, and cross-sell across the global firm.

Minimum of 6 PQE (guide only; all suitable candidates considered)
Significant relevant experience in defended clinical negligence practice, including medical malpractice
Experience handling multimillion-pound matters
Experience working within the healthcare sector
Excellent legal skills and initiative, with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied caseload
Strong client relationship and negotiation skills
