Top-tier firm seeking a Senior Associate to join its San Francisco regulatory team focused on consumer protection and data privacy matters. This is a partner-track role for a lawyer who will counsel clients across privacy, security and consumer-regulatory compliance issues, and who can handle complex investigations and litigation.

The role involves advising on U.S. and global privacy regimes (CCPA/CPRA and other state laws, FTC Act, GDPR), responding to regulatory inquiries and enforcement, defending privacy and security class actions, and supporting incident response and breach matters. The team also handles privacy-related diligence in transactions and advises on commercial contracts involving data transfers and vendor relationships.

Ideal candidates are client-facing problem solvers with strong drafting and analytical skills, tech fluency (including familiarity with AI governance and emerging AI rules), and 5–6 years’ relevant experience. The position requires California bar admission and excellent academic credentials.

  • 5–6 years post-qualification experience in consumer protection, privacy investigations, or privacy/security litigation.
  • Experience with FTC, state attorney general investigations and defending data-privacy class actions (e.g., SCA, wiretapping, UDAAP/UDAP, data breach claims).
  • Hands-on knowledge of US and global privacy frameworks (CCPA/CPRA, GDPR), and working familiarity with HIPAA, FCRA, GLBA, COPPA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM.
  • Experience drafting privacy notices, incident response plans, information-security policies, DPAs, and negotiating vendor/service-provider agreements.
  • Comfort advising on privacy aspects of M&A due diligence and on AI governance, including EU AI Act and US/state AI measures.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school; member in good standing of the California Bar.
  • Excellent writing, communication, project leadership, and client-management skills; partner-track interest and ability to lead engagements.
