An Am Law 20 firm
Apply in confidence →A leading global law firm is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its U.S.-based team of Conflicts Attorneys and oversee the day-to-day conflicts clearance function for new clients and matters across its U.S. offices. This role may be based in any U.S. office and reports to the Director of Conflicts Attorneys & Assistant General Counsel.
The Senior Manager will serve as a senior escalation point for complex and novel conflicts questions under U.S. professional responsibility rules, interface directly with partners regarding new matter approvals, and personally handle the most sensitive clearances. The role combines leadership—building, training, and managing a growing team—with operational oversight of workload allocation, service levels, precedent libraries, training programs, and the continued development of conflicts and ethical screening technology.
Responsibilities also include coordinating with the international conflicts team on cross-border matters, overseeing review of outside counsel guidelines, consulting on ethical screens, developing conflicts policies and frameworks, and partnering with Legal Operations and Information Systems on technology enhancements.
- Qualified attorney, admitted and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a law firm conflicts, professional responsibility, or general counsel function
- Substantial knowledge of conflict-of-interest principles under the ABA Model Rules and U.S. state rules, with experience resolving conflicts in a large law firm
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor a team of attorneys and analysts
- Familiarity with cross-border conflicts issues and judgment to refer non-U.S. rules to international colleagues
- Deep working knowledge of conflicts clearance and ethical screening technology (e.g., Intapp or equivalent)
- J.D. from an accredited law school required
- Formal supervisory experience and experience at a large or global law firm preferred
