Apply in confidence →We are recruiting a Senior Risk Lawyer to join a dedicated risk management function within a leading law firm on a 12-month fixed-term contract, reporting to the Head of Risk. The role sits within a collaborative team advising the business on legal and regulatory compliance and helping the firm mitigate associated risk.
The position has a strong commercial contracts and procurement focus. You will manage and oversee the firm's supplier arrangements, handling legal analysis, drafting and negotiation of a wide range of commercial contracts — including supplier and service agreements, IT hardware and software, licensing and SaaS arrangements, including products with AI functionality — from initiation through to execution. You will also advise on related contractual matters such as data protection compliance and work closely with senior business stakeholders across the firm.
As procurement processes continue to evolve, you will help design and implement efficient contract-management frameworks, develop and maintain templates, policies and guidelines, and deliver training to internal stakeholders. Beyond contracts, you will support the wider risk team on regulatory matters including data protection (subject access requests and breach handling), review of client terms and proposed amendments to terms of business, and updates to risk policies, while mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
- Qualified lawyer with strong experience in commercial contracts and procurement, ideally gained in a professional-services or regulated environment.
- Proven ability to draft, review and negotiate a broad range of supplier and technology contracts, including software, licensing and SaaS agreements.
- Working knowledge of data protection compliance and associated regulatory obligations.
- Skilled at assessing legal risk and proposing practical mitigation strategies.
- Confident advising and training senior stakeholders and business services teams.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members is desirable.
