Solicitor / Associate – Regulatory SHE

Our national Regulatory Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team advises individuals and organisations facing criminal investigations and prosecutions relating to health and safety, fire safety, food safety, environmental law, product safety, and Fatal Accident Inquiries. We are expanding due to client demand and are seeking an experienced solicitor or associate to join our team in Glasgow.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing a busy and varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious regulatory matters.
• Serving as a client contact, applying knowledge commensurate with experience.
• Supporting business development, including preparing pitches, presentations, and training events.
• Handling file management, billing, credit control, WIP, and file closures.
• Ensuring quality control and compliance with client protocols.
• Maintaining awareness of other practice areas and building internal networks.
• Keeping technical knowledge current through training and continuing professional development.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' PQE with experience in a regulatory or commercially focused environment, ideally handling investigations and prosecutions by the Police, HSE, Local Authorities, SFRS, SEPA, and other regulators. Experience with Fatal Accident Inquiries, witness interviews, interviews under caution, sentencing hearings, environmental breaches, trading standards, product safety, food safety, or fire safety is advantageous. Strong drafting, analytical, and technical skills are required, along with a willingness to travel at short notice and hold a valid driving licence. We value business development acumen and the ability to build lasting client relationships.

• At least 5 years' PQE with experience in a regulatory or commercially focused environment, in private practice or otherwise.
• Experience advising on regulatory work, including HSE/Police investigations, witness interviews, interviews under caution, prosecutions, sentencing hearings, and inquiries.
• Experience in areas such as environmental breaches, trading standards, product safety, food safety, or fire safety is beneficial.
• Strong legal drafting, analytical, and technical skills.
• Proven business development and client relationship skills.
• Willingness to travel at short notice and hold a valid driving licence.
