Technology Transactions & Licensing Associate

A global law firm is seeking a mid-level to senior associate to join its Technology Transactions & Licensing practice, with the role open across several West Coast and Pacific Northwest offices. The associate will work closely with innovative startups, growth-stage companies, and established global enterprises on a wide range of complex transactions and product launches.

The practice supports clients on intellectual property, licensing, data privacy and security, and sophisticated commercial transactions across diverse sectors. Attorneys immerse themselves in each client's technology ecosystem to help navigate deal complexities with precision, confidence, and insight.

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing.
• 4+ years of relevant experience at a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience advising clients on commercial and licensing agreements, intellectual property matters, and product counseling, particularly in cloud computing, software, patents, IT procurement, supply chain, semiconductor, and AI/machine learning.
• Deep knowledge of intellectual property and commercial contract law relating to software, hardware, and digital assets.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR) and open source license frameworks.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client demands in a fast-paced environment.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and team-oriented approach.
• Preferred: technical background (e.g., CS, EE, bioengineering) or experience with cloud computing, semiconductor, hardware, AI, and cybersecurity sectors.
• Preferred: experience with international licensing and cross-border transactions.
• Preferred: exposure to IP workflows in M&A or financing transactions and post-closing integration.
