DWF salary 2026: the NQ cell is empty.
Legal Cheek's 2026-27 DWF profile lists newly qualified salary as Undisclosed. The dated public table is trainee pay. This page sets that table against the insurance-weighted, PE-owned seat a general counsel is actually buying.
The 2026 DWF nq salary table that actually exists.
Sartori maps 30,000 lawyers in London. The DWF nq salary query still resolves to an empty cell: Legal Cheek's 2026-27 profile lists newly qualified pay as Undisclosed, so the dated table a general counsel can use is trainee cash, not lockstep.
Legal Cheek’s DWF profile, carrying the 2026-27 Trainee and Junior Lawyer Survey vintage, states newly qualified salary Undisclosed. The same word sat in its 11 November 2024 London NQ census. The 2026 NQ number is unpublished, not missing.
The query is a 2026 NQ number. The public record answers with trainee bands and an empty NQ cell. What that cash funds is the next fact.

The seat a general counsel is buying is insurance-weighted, PE-levered and UK-heavy.
Newly qualified cash at this firm, when it is paid, sits on a P&L that is no longer a listed lockstep. The year to 30 April 2025 is the first full year of accounts after the October 2023 take-private.
Aquila Topco Limited’s annual report for the year to 30 April 2025 records group revenue of £572.6m, net revenue of £465.8m, a loss before tax of £81.3m and adjusted EBITDA of £70.8m. The FY24 comparatives in those accounts are a seven-month stub to 30 April 2024, because the acquisition completed on 3 October 2023, so year-on-year percentages inside the PDF are not like-for-like full years. The firm’s own 9 September 2025 release restated the net-revenue move as £434m to £466m.
Insurance Services billed £301.263m and booked net revenue of £236.310m in that year, with the accounts describing a 17 percent growth year. Commercial Services billed £271.297m and booked net revenue of £229.533m, a flat year that the strategic report ties to a subdued transactional market. Legal Operations was folded into Commercial Services on 1 May 2024. A general counsel reading those two lines is not looking at a Magic Circle corporate factory. They are looking at a defendant-insurance book that is now larger than the commercial book, plus a mid-market corporate overlay that, in calendar 2025, the firm said advised on over 150 deals with a combined value of over £6 billion.
UK billed revenue of £390.933m is 68 percent of the £572.6m group total in those same accounts. Spain, North America and Rest of World fill the rest. Headcount in the gender snapshot at 30 April 2025 is 1,840 male, 2,887 female, 8 other and 177 undisclosed, totaling 4,912 employees and members. Average monthly persons employed in the year were 3,068 legal advisors and 1,478 support staff, totaling 4,546. Wages and salaries were £274.012m; social security £16.236m; other pension costs £9.639m; total employment costs £299.887m. Amounts due to members sat at £34.718m as a balance-sheet liability. That liability is not annual PEP, and dividing the wage pool by headcount does not produce an average lawyer salary: the pool includes support staff and excludes LLP members.
The capital structure is the reason an NQ table can stay closed. Net debt excluding IFRS 16 leases was £270.5m at 30 April 2025, against £227.1m a year earlier. Finance expense was £69.270m, of which interest on bank borrowings was £31.351m, loan notes £29.782m and preference shares £5.951m. The unsecured loan notes of £221.7m, redeemable October 2031, carry 12 percent interest compounded quarterly and were listed on The International Stock Exchange in December 2023. Loss before tax of £81.330m was, in the accounts’ own words, primarily driven by £67.1m of interest charges on bank borrowings, loan notes and preference shares. Non-underlying items were £39.422m, including a restructuring charge of £14.843m. The Law Gazette, on 25 April 2025, quoted a DWF spokesperson on a consultation with 108 colleagues, about 2 percent of total employees, in limited areas of Commercial Services and Central Services; the final number made redundant is not in that piece. Lock-up was 217 days, against 210 in 2024. Adjusted EBITDA of £70.8m and a finance expense of £69.3m sit within a million pounds of each other. Newly qualified cash at this firm competes with that interest line, not with a US lockstep.
The take-private that produced this P&L completed on 3 October 2023. The High Court of Justice in England and Wales sanctioned the scheme of arrangement on 29 September 2023. The 21 July 2023 Rule 2.7 letter valued issued and to-be-issued share capital at approximately £342 million on 100 pence per share (97p cash plus a 3p special dividend). Inflexion Buyout Fund VI is the majority owner. Former listed-era partners retained preference shares and loan notes. A 2026 NQ at this firm is an employee of a PE-owned Alternative Business Structure, not a residual claimant on a partnership lockstep.
The year before that full-year print still matters as a demand signal. DWF’s 6 August 2024 release, covering the year to 30 April 2024, put net revenue at £380m to £435m, a 14 percent rise, with Insurance Services the fastest-growing division at 24 percent, Commercial Services up 8 percent organic and Legal Operations up 8 percent. That is the same insurance-over-commercial tilt the FY25 accounts then confirmed in pounds. Aquila TopCo Limited’s mid-year update of 30 January 2026, for the six months to 31 October 2025, said revenue increased by 11 percent against the same period last year, naming Whitelaw Twining in Canada, Proclaim in Australia, and laterals in Canada, Australia, Poland and the UK as drivers. No pound-sterling total was given in that update, so none is invented here. The same note records a May 2025 Verisk collaboration on insurer indemnity spend and claims analytics, and a June 2025 Legora partnership that the firm described as embedding a collaborative legal AI platform into its legal-operations offering for volume legal work and contracts. The 6 August 2024 release had already named a global Microsoft Copilot roll-out. Process work that used to justify junior solicitor hours is being absorbed on the Legal Operations and claims side. Reserved advocacy, coverage and complex injury are what remain for an NQ.
Three career families. Only one of them is an NQ solicitor.
A general counsel instructing this group is not always buying a reserved legal seat. The NQ the keyword names sits in Legal Services. A large share of the insurance cash is earned in vehicles that do not need a practicing certificate.
Reserved legal adviceNon-reserved claims and operations
- Legal Services The NQ solicitor, the associate, the designated partner. Reserved activities inside DWF Law LLP, DWF LLP in Scotland, or DWF (Northern Ireland) LLP. This is the seat the keyword prices.
- Legal Operations The former Mindcrest ALSP, folded into Commercial Services. Contract management, managed review, legal-operations consulting. A general counsel can buy this instead of another NQ.
- Claims and adjusting TPA, loss adjusting, claims management. Separate companies, separate regulators or none. The cash is insurance. The job family is not solicitor.
DWF Law LLP has been an SRA licensed body since 8 March 2019, license 653260, authorized for rights of audience, conduct of litigation, reserved instrument activities, probate and administration of oaths. The SRA organization page records 961 SRA-regulated people and roles across 10 England-and-Wales offices, with the Manchester registered office at 1 Scott Place. The register states the body is not a quoted company or a subsidiary of one. The firm’s legal notices define “Partner” as a member of DWF Law LLP or an employee or consultant with equivalent standing and qualifications. Partner pay here is a corporate career-band problem. It is not residual lockstep drawings.
That licensed body sits inside a thicker group. The same notices list DWF Advocacy Limited, DWF Costs Limited and Greyfern Law Limited as further SRA ABS vehicles; DWF LLP as the Law Society of Scotland practice; DWF (Northern Ireland) LLP as the Belfast vehicle; DWF Adjusting Limited; DWF Claims Limited; Mindcrest UK Limited trading as DWF Legal Operations; and claims companies in Australia and the United States that are not law firms. The FY25 strategic report puts “around 2,000 specialists” in Insurance Services and “over 1,300 colleagues” in Commercial Services. Claims Management and Adjusting, after the Proclaim combination, was described in the 9 September 2025 release as 320 colleagues across nine jurisdictions. The NQ solicitor the search query names is a fraction of that stack.
The buyers who pay for the reserved seat are, on the public panel record, composite UK insurers and London Market (re)insurers, with a public-sector and listed-corporate overlay. DWF was one of four firms on Aviva’s core legal panel from 1 January 2023, cut from nine, on a three-year minimum. It was one of three on RSA’s defense panel from 13 February 2023, cut from six, covering motor, casualty, property and complex claims. DWF’s 6 August 2024 results named more than 30 panel appointments or reappointments including BT, Tesco, Aspen Insurance and Cadent Gas Limited. On 24 November 2025, Local Government Lawyer recorded DWF on Crown Commercial Service Legal Panel for Government Lot 1 (Core Legal Services), running to 29 September 2028 — not on the major-projects or high-risk finance lots. On 13 February 2026 the firm was appointed to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and Nuclear Restoration Services panels under that CCS wrapper, to March 2027. Those are the desks a head of legal is actually buying.
Hiring in 2025 followed the insurance line. On 30 September 2025 the firm announced 28 colleagues joining Major Injury and Casualty in London and Leeds, including four partners from a specialist insurance-defendant firm and a fifth from another UK insurance-defendant firm, with practice labels of liability defense, catastrophic injury, travel litigation, regulatory and crisis management. The Law Gazette carried the same 28-person figure the next day. The same week, Belfast announced an intake of 19, including four NQs and seven trainees, qualifying into catastrophic personal injury, motor and fraud, and real estate. That is not a US Big Law NQ factory. It is a defendant-insurance and regional full-service pipeline.
The in-house buyer is named as a type on the firm’s own insurance pages. A parallel “Legal Advice for In-House Lawyers” offer targets insurer general counsel and chief legal officers on data protection, crisis, regulatory, corporate crime, class actions, finance and restructuring, employment, pensions and real estate. The InsureInsight program, on the insurance sector page accessed 11 September 2026, is described as designed to reach professionals within the insurance market but outside claims-related roles, including in-house legal teams, general counsel, board members and NEDs, plus regulatory and compliance, HR and employment, data protection and financial crime. A chief legal officer at a composite insurer is therefore both a client of this firm and, when they hire, a competitor for the same junior insurance-defendant solicitors. The NQ salary, when it exists, prices the reserved Legal Services seat. It does not price the TPA contract, the adjusting file, or the Legal Operations transformation a head of legal can buy instead of another newly qualified solicitor.

A general counsel is not buying a lockstep. They are buying a defendant insurance seat.
The law that repriced the seat did not fill in the NQ cell.
Two statutes and a costs regime decide which DWF juniors a general counsel still needs, and which files a defendant firm can no longer pay Magic Circle cash to staff.
Volume, tariff, capped costsCatastrophic, coverage, reserved advocacy
- Tariff motor Whiplash tariff, Official Injury Claim portal, mixed-injury files that still need a defendant solicitor. An NQ or solicitor seat. Not a PEP seat.
- Capped-cost claims Extended fixed recoverable costs on the fast track and intermediate track. Recoverable fees are capped, so the cash available to pay a junior is capped with them.
- Major injury and coverage Discount-rate quantum, London Market, reserved advocacy. The seniority the 2025 laterals actually bought. This is where unpublished NQ cash, if it exists, has to compete.
The Legal Services Act 2007 Part 5 is the license for a buyout fund to own the employer. It creates licensed bodies in which non-authorized persons may own or manage a firm that provides reserved legal activities. DWF Law LLP has been such a body since 8 March 2019. The SRA Authorisation Annual Report 2023/24, published 2 February 2026, counted 1,257 ABS licenses (14 percent) among 9,147 regulated firms in the year to 31 October 2024, up from 791 (8 percent) in 2017/18, with 255 of those an LLP-with-ABS. This firm is one large LLP-ABS inside that 255, not an outlier experiment. PE-owned competitor set is a regulator-counted structural shift. It is also why the firm can refuse to print a City NQ table: NQ cash competes with 12 percent loan notes, not with a partnership vote.
The Civil Liability Act 2018 repriced volume personal injury. Part 1 set tariff damages for specified whiplash and banned settlement before a medical report. Part 2 requires the Lord Chancellor to review the personal-injury discount rate at least every five years. After the 2024 review the Lord Chancellor set the England-and-Wales rate at 0.5 percent, effective 11 January 2025, by SI 2024/1261. The next review must start on or before 2 December 2029. Lump-sum future-loss calculations for serious injury moved off the old negative rate. The hiring consequence is demand for experienced major injury and quantum specialists, not a surge of NQs.
Extended fixed recoverable costs arrived on 1 October 2023 under SI 2023/572, across the fast track and a new intermediate track for simpler cases up to £100,000. The Ministry of Justice committed to review the extended regime in October 2026. Recoverable costs on volume employer-liability, public-liability, motor and general claims are capped, which compresses what a defendant firm can pay a newly qualified solicitor on those files. Complex and catastrophic work that stays outside FRC is the seniority that still prices — the same seniority the 28-person Major Injury and Casualty hire of September 2025 actually bought.
Volume motor did not disappear. The UK Supreme Court in Hassam v Rabot [2024] UKSC 11, decided 26 March 2024, construed Civil Liability Act 2018 Part 1 for claims combining tariff whiplash and non-whiplash injury. The judgment records Official Injury Claim data for 1 October to 31 December 2023: 62,557 whiplash claims in the portal, of which 30 percent were tariff-only and 66.7 percent mixed. The OIC data publication for 1 October to 31 December 2024, figures correct as of 1 January 2025, recorded 64,936 claims submitted in the quarter, 961,984 cumulative since launch, 33,660 settlements of which 89 percent were represented, and 38,314 liability decisions of which 80 percent were admitted in part or in full. Mixed-injury files still need defendant solicitors. They are not the seats that will pay an unpublished NQ at Magic Circle rates.
On the buyer side of the same files, the FCA Consumer Duty has been in force since 31 July 2023 for open products and since 31 July 2024 for closed products. The FCA’s board-report review, published 11 December 2024, looked at first annual reports from 180 firms. ICOBS 8 still requires insurers to handle claims promptly and fairly. The FCA’s 27 March 2024 multi-firm review into insurers’ valuation of vehicles, last updated 3 December 2025, is explicit that outsourcing does not transfer regulatory obligations. Solvency UK applied from 31 December 2024 under PRA PS15/24, published 15 November 2024. Those rules raise demand on insurer general counsel, claims-oversight seats and DWF’s regulatory and commercial insurance desk. They are not a reason to invent an NQ scale.
An NQ here is applied for, jurisdiction-split, and cheaper as a trainee than as a guess.
Twenty-three training contracts, a 79 percent retention rate, and three qualification routes. The first cash figure a 2026 trainee earns is often a statutory wage, not the undisclosed NQ.
Legal Cheek’s 2026-27 DWF profile records 23 training contracts a year and a latest trainee retention rate of 79 percent. The 2027 Firms Most List ranks the firm by that training-contract count, not by lawyer headcount. Client-secondment probability on the same survey is 39 percent; overseas secondment is 0 percent. Average self-reported start was 08:48 and finish 17:58. Those are survey figures, not a published hours policy, and they are not a pay band.
England-and-Wales qualification is the SQE route. The SRA page updated in August 2025 requires a degree or equivalent level 6, SQE1 and SQE2, two years’ full-time or equivalent qualifying work experience, and character and suitability. Qualifying work experience, on the SRA page updated 26 January 2024, can run across up to four organizations and must be confirmed by an SRA solicitor or COLP. DWF’s Early Careers FAQ says the firm enrolls and pays SQE course and exam fees if not already started at offer, not retrospectively, and runs four seats of six months. After an apprenticeship, apprentices “follow the newly qualified process of applying for all the NQ positions available.” An NQ seat is applied for. It is not automatic, which is the operational meaning of a 79 percent retention rate. The same FAQ gives a 2:1 academic guide and records that A-level and Scottish Higher criteria were removed in 2020 for trainee solicitor roles. Applications without a 2:1 are still reviewed. Those gates decide who enters the 23-contract pipeline. They do not fill in the NQ cell at the other end of it.
Scotland still requires the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice before the two-year practical period. Belfast sits on a separate Law Society of Northern Ireland vehicle: IPLS to practice in Northern Ireland, or SQE to practice in England and Wales. Irish Legal News, on 2 September 2026, recorded the first Belfast SQE-qualifying cohort — six qualifications, three IPLS and three SQE — alongside seven new first-year trainees and seven second-years. A Belfast NQ is not automatically an SRA solicitor.
The first cash on an English SQE apprenticeship contract is a statutory wage. The career-development page states that trainees in England on the SQE graduate-level apprenticeship receive National Living Wage from the beginning of the 32-month training contract, then step to location trainee rates once qualifying work experience begins. The Living Wage Foundation’s historic table puts the statutory National Living Wage (21+) at £12.21 in 2025-26 and £12.71 in 2026-27. That is a different instrument from the voluntary Real Living Wage of £13.45 (UK) and £14.80 (London) for 2025-26, announced 22 October 2025, and a different instrument again from the FAQ’s £23,400 line.

DWF Early Careers FAQ, first-year only, undated page accessed 11 September 2026.
DWF Early Careers FAQs ↗Bonus quantum as a percentage of NQ salary is not published. What is published is receipt. GOV.UK’s gender-pay-gap service for DWF Law LLP, snapshot 5 April 2025, reporting year 2025-26, records that 54.1 percent of women and 50.6 percent of men received bonus pay, with women’s median hourly pay 21.9 percent lower than men’s and women’s median bonus 3.16 percent lower. Women were 55.8 percent of the upper pay quarter and 67.7 percent of the lower pay quarter. The employer headcount band is 1,000 to 4,999, and the snapshot is DWF Law LLP only, not the global group. The group’s own Diversity Pay Gap Report for the same snapshot date records employee bonus receipt of 52 percent male and 53 percent female, and partner bonus receipt of 44 percent male and 56 percent female. Those are gap and receipt statistics. They are not an NQ bonus scale.
DWF’s 9 September 2025 results release recorded 26 colleagues promoted to partner or a higher career level and 238 promotions across the business in January 2025. DWF’s 6 August 2024 release recorded 33 promotions to partner or higher, 25 lateral partner hires and more than 220 promotions in January. Promotion volume is public. The cash attached to those promotions is not.
Match the file mix. Do not wait for a table the firm will not print.
The NQ, the associate and the partner who earn this cash, and the general counsel who matches it, are reading the same empty cell. The work-around is the same for both: price the seat from what is public and from what the files actually are.
Sartori has worked the London associate market for more than 10 years. On this search line the desk closed 33 associate mandates over the trailing three years, at a 93 percent completion rate, on a typical timeline of 6 to 12 weeks, with a 35 percent counter-offer incidence and a median of 12 working days from offer to acceptance. Of those 33 closed files, 11 were insurance-defendant or claims-adjacent seats at national or ABS firms, years 1 to 5, over the same 36-month window. That 11 is the comparable for this page. It is not a second city cohort, and it does not exceed the closed-search figure.
The finding that does not flatter the desk: in 4 of those 11 files we could not verify the newly qualified cash the candidate said they earned, because the employer would not confirm a figure against a public table. We closed those four on a negotiated all-in. Two of the four laterals were back in process within 14 months. Our own London mapping records admission, employer and practice. It does not record DWF NQ cash, because no public register does, and a search that pretends otherwise is the one that comes back.
A general counsel at a composite UK insurer, sitting inside that 112-person buyer cut of the London interview cohort, put it without decoration: they do not budget a panel NQ against a table the firm will not print. They budget against FRC motor files versus catastrophic injury. A head of legal at a UK listed gas-distribution network, on a national full-service panel, said the conversion they watch is trainee-to-NQ retention on the panel, not PEP. Both are the buyer reading of an empty cell, and both are why this page opens on the trainee table rather than on a guessed NQ.
For a chief legal officer writing the 2026 budget, the practical sequence is short. Decide whether the seat is reserved Legal Services, Legal Operations, or claims-management. If it is reserved, decide whether the files are FRC-capped volume or major injury and coverage. Then match trainee cash from the public table, negotiate the NQ step as a number the firm will put in an offer letter, and do not wait for Legal Cheek to fill the cell. Sartori’s London associate counter-offer incidence is 35 percent; on unpublished bands the incumbent’s counter is harder to test, which is why those four of eleven comparable files closed on a negotiated all-in rather than on a published step. Typical time-to-fill on the city associate line remains 6 to 12 weeks. The 12-working-day offer-to-acceptance median holds when the number is in the letter. It stretches when the buyer is still hoping a table will appear.
You are buying a defendant-insurance or mid-market commercial seat, not a lockstep. Price the files.
- Open on the trainee table. It is the only dated cash. Use Legal Cheek and the FAQ as two sources, not as an average.
- Split FRC files from MIC files. Capped-cost motor and a catastrophic-injury coverage seat are different products and different juniors.
- Name the vehicle. Legal Services, Legal Operations or claims-management. Only the first needs an NQ practicing certificate.
- Do not wait for PEP. It is undisclosed, and it would not price a junior even if it were not.
- Budget the counter-offer. London associate-line incidence is 35 percent. On unpublished bands it is harder to test, which is why 4 of 11 comparable files in our telemetry could not be reconciled to a table.
You earn cash the firm will not print. Ask for the instrument, not the brand.
- Ask what “partner” means. At this ABS it is a designated title. Membership, employment and equivalent standing are three different economics.
- Treat NQ as an application. Retention of 79 percent means roughly one in five training contracts does not convert. Seats are applied for.
- Name the regulator first. SRA, Law Society of Scotland, or Law Society of Northern Ireland. A Belfast qualification is not an England-and-Wales roll.
- Ignore cancelled share awards. Ordinary shares were cancelled on 3 October 2023. No 2026 NQ share-award percentage is published.
- If you are moving in-house, take the company band. An unpublished private-practice NQ is a weak negotiating floor, which is what the utility hire above discovered.
The service view of the London associate book sits on our associate recruiting page and, for companies hiring the in-house end of the same people, on in-house counsel recruiting. The London desk is also on legal recruiters in London. How the figures on this page are built is on our methodology and research pages. Neighbouring 2026 firm-salary pages own their own tables; this page owns DWF’s empty NQ cell and the insurance-weighted seat behind it. A general counsel or chief legal officer who needs the seat filled this quarter should start from the trainee table, the file mix, and a search brief that does not pretend a 2026 NQ lockstep exists. That is the conversation the London associate desk is built to have.
Common questions about DWF pay in 2026
What is the DWF nq salary in 2026?
Legal Cheek still lists the 2026 newly qualified figure as Undisclosed, as it did on 11 November 2024. The public 2026 cash is trainee pay: London first-year £45,000 and second-year £47,000 on the 2026-27 Legal Cheek profile, against an undated firm FAQ that puts London first-year at £38,000. No 2026 NQ base, PQE lockstep or bonus-as-a-percentage is published. A general counsel matching this hire should price the seat from file mix and the trainee table, not from a lockstep that is not there.
What does DWF pay trainee solicitors in 2026?
Two public 2026 trainee tables exist, and they do not agree on London. Legal Cheek’s 2026-27 profile records London trainee pay at £45,000 then £47,000, and outside London at £31,000 then £33,000. The firm’s own Early Careers FAQ, accessed on 11 September 2026 with no page date, lists first-year pay only: London £38,000, regional England and Scotland £26,000, Belfast £21,255. Report both. Do not average them.
Does DWF publish partner pay or PEP in 2026?
No 2026 PEP is published: Legal Cheek lists it as Undisclosed, and Legal Business recorded the same silence on 8 September 2025. The last listed-era productivity figure is net revenue per partner of £1,001k in the year to 30 April 2023, which is revenue divided by average partner FTE, not drawings. After 3 October 2023, “Partner” at DWF Law LLP is a designated title for a member or an employee of equivalent standing.
What work does a DWF newly qualified solicitor actually do?
Reserved legal work inside a licensed ABS, on an Insurance Services book of £301.263m in the year to 30 April 2025. Commercial Services billed £271.297m in the same Aquila Topco accounts. The 30 September 2025 Major Injury and Casualty intake of 28 colleagues, and the Belfast NQs who qualified into catastrophic personal injury, motor and fraud, and real estate, are the 2025–26 hiring pattern. Claims-management, adjusting and Legal Operations desks sit in other group vehicles and do not need an NQ practicing certificate.
How should a general counsel price a hire from this firm?
Price the file mix, not an unpublished NQ table: extended FRC has capped most claims up to £100,000 since 1 October 2023. The England-and-Wales personal-injury discount rate has sat at +0.5% since 11 January 2025. Volume motor is a capped-cost seat; catastrophic injury and coverage are not. Of 33 closed London associate searches over three years, 11 were insurance-defendant or claims-adjacent seats at national or ABS firms — that is the comparable, not Magic Circle lockstep.
How long does it take to hire a DWF-type associate in London?
Sartori’s London associate desk works to a typical 6 to 12 week timeline, with a median of 12 working days from offer to acceptance and a 35 percent counter-offer incidence. Completion on the city associate line is 93 percent across 33 closed searches in three years. The delay, when it comes, is usually an unpublished NQ band the buyer wanted to match, not a shortage of insurance-defendant solicitors.
Accounts, the SRA register, Legal Cheek and the statutes.
Pay figures come from Legal Cheek and the firm's own careers FAQ. Group economics come from Aquila Topco's FY25 accounts and the 3 October 2023 scheme documents. The seat is described from the SRA licensed-body record and from dated panel announcements. The statutes are cited from legislation.gov.uk and the regulators.

Legal Cheek trainee bands and the undated DWF Early Careers FAQ disagree on London first-year pay; both are listed and are not averaged. FY25 year-on-year percentages in the accounts compare a full year to a seven-month stub. Amounts due to members and FY23 net revenue per partner are not 2026 PEP. Insurer panel appointments from 2021–23 are dated as made and are not assumed to bind in September 2026 without a later URL. Survey hours and secondment probabilities are Legal Cheek self-report.
Our own numbers — the London interview cohort, the associate-line mandate telemetry, the counter-offer incidence and the offer-to-acceptance window — come from the continuous research program described on our research page. Quarterly surveys have run since 2019. Nearly 1.5 million lawyer profiles are mapped globally.

Why NQ salary tables attract but do not decide
The published newly qualified number is a recruiting signal. It is a weak proxy for the work a general counsel is buying, and a weaker one when the cell is empty.
