How Much Law Firm Partners Make in 2026: Equity, Nonequity and Firm Tier
The 2026 question is not one number. It is three paychecks — equity residual, nonequity salary, firm-tier spread — and a fourth figure the general counsel actually pays: the hourly invoice.
How much do law firm partners make depends on the seat, not the average.
A New York general counsel who asked Sartori that question in 2026 received three numbers, not one. Across 1,675 structured interviews with New York partners and counsel, the buyers of partner time and the earners of the title described different paychecks under the same word.
David Lat’s 30 April 2026 recap of the 2026 Am Law 100 put calendar-2025 average profits per equity partner at $3.59 million, up 14.0 percent. That is net income divided by equity-partner headcount. Owner residual. Not take-home.

PEP is a vanity average. The invoice is the price.
What equity actually printed, by firm and by tier.
The 2026 Am Law rankings measure calendar 2025. They are firm averages for equity owners. A Second Hundred boutique can out-earn the Am Law 100 mean; a leveraged giant can sit on the mean while its rainmakers sit far above it.
Above the Law’s 15 April 2026 recap of the 2026 Am Law 100 listed 2025 PEP at Wachtell of $12.152 million (up 34.48 percent), Kirkland & Ellis $11.121 million (up 20.19 percent) and Davis Polk $9.800 million (up 25.60 percent). Quinn Emanuel, Gibson Dunn and Latham & Watkins followed at $9.545 million, $8.890 million and $8.654 million. Seventy of 100 firms posted PEP growth of at least 10 percent; only two reported PEP declines. That is the top of the equity chart. It is not a salary scale, and it is not what a nonequity partner takes home.
A general counsel reading those rows is looking at the platform that will invoice the company, not at a payroll band the company can copy. Original Jurisdiction’s 30 April 2026 recap put Am Law 100 revenue per lawyer at $1.39 million for 2025, up 8.7 percent — a platform productivity read, and still not the hourly invoice. Citi’s nine-month 2025 cut found demand growth at 69.2 percent of Am Law 50 firms against 51.4 percent of Am Law 51–100 firms: the residual concentrated where demand actually arrived, which is the same concentration a head of legal sees when a mega-deal panel and a diligence panel stop being the same firm.
| Firm | Tier | 2025 PEP | PEP change | Gross revenue | RPL | Lawyers |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wachtell | Am Law 1–10 | $12.152M | +34.48% | n/a | $5.085M | 272 |
| Kirkland & Ellis | Am Law 1–10 | $11.121M | +20.19% | $10.556B | $2.547M | 4,145 |
| Davis Polk | Am Law 1–10 | $9.800M | +25.60% | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| Latham & Watkins | Am Law 1–10 | $8.654M | n/a | $8.300B | n/a | n/a |
| Cole Scott (Second Hundred) | Am Law 101–200 | $6.350M | n/a | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| Cahill (Second Hundred) | Am Law 101–200 | $5.652M | n/a | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| Choate Hall (Second Hundred) | Am Law 101–200 | $4.329M | n/a | n/a | n/a | n/a |
Cole Scott, Cahill and Choate Hall sit in the Second Hundred and still print PEP above several Am Law 100 names. A chief legal officer who treats “Am Law 100” as a price ceiling and “Second Hundred” as a discount will mis-specify both the panel and a hire off those platforms.
Profits per lawyer is the check on PEP. The American Lawyer hub dated 14 April 2026 states Wachtell tops the 2026 PPL list at $3,525,000. PPL divides profit by all lawyers; PEP divides by equity partners only. Using PEP as “what partners make” inflates the typical partner and understates the rainmaker. Average Compensation–All Partners, which mixes equity distributions and nonequity fixed pay, rose 11.6 percent in 2025, with 89 firms posting CAP increases against 95 the prior year, per Law.com’s 14 April 2026 CAP ranking. The dollar CAP table was not retrieved; this page does not guess it.
The firm writes the K-1. The general counsel funds it.
Partner pay is earned on a law-firm W-2 or K-1 and paid, in cash terms, by corporate legal departments, funds and public-company boards that buy partner time by the hour.
ACC’s 2026 Chief Legal Officers Survey — 1,049 participants across 20 industries and 43 countries, released 29 January 2026 with FTI Consulting — is the buyer census. Eighty-four percent of chief legal officers now report directly to the CEO; 34 percent use the CLO title; 79 percent almost always attend board meetings. Operational efficiency is the top strategic initiative at 53 percent. Budget and resource constraints are the top barrier at 35 percent. That is who decides whether a four-figure Am Law 100 hour stays on the matter.
In-house desks are not absorbing the partner class. The same ACC survey finds 63 percent of CLOs expect headcount to remain stable and 36 percent are in active generative-AI deployment, framed as role evolution rather than cuts. Outside-counsel use jumped to 48 percent; consultants to 27 percent. Trade and tariffs sit at 30 percent of rising priorities; AI regulation at 24 percent, up 21 points year on year in the newsroom summary. The pressure valve is the firm partner, not a new internal seat. Thomson Reuters’ 11 February 2026 in-house recap of the same market year found nearly two-thirds of general counsel bringing more work in-house even as they spent less per hour by moving matters to cheaper firms.
Of 267 general counsel, chiefs of legal and heads of legal inside Sartori’s New York interview cohort who had approved an outside-counsel invoice over a 24-month window, 74 percent said they priced partner time from the hourly invoice; 19 percent said a board or chief financial officer had cited an Am Law PEP print when questioning a panel or a package. A chief legal officer at a New York-listed industrial company told us they stopped using PEP as a budget proxy after a 2025 panel invoice from an Am Law 50 firm cleared four figures an hour on a mid-complexity diligence seat. The residual was a magazine number. The invoice was the cost.
Second Hundred revenue growth
Nine months 2025 versus nine months 2024. Demand in the same cut: +1.6 percent; leverage +5.1 percent.
2026 Citi Hildebrandt Client Advisory, Part I ↗Your number is the worked hour and the in-house alternative, not the firm’s PEP print.
- Ask equity or nonequity first. The same title invoices at partner rates. Only the equity seat is in the PEP denominator.
- Price the panel on the rate card. Citi recorded worked-rate growth of 9.6 percent through nine months of 2025 — a firm-side engine, not a PEP print.
- Watch Net Spend Anticipation, not PEP growth. In the third quarter of 2025, 13 percent of legal departments anticipated spend increases against 22 percent anticipating decreases.
- Do not freeze headcount and then overpay the valve. Forty-eight percent of chief legal officers increased outside-counsel use while most in-house desks stayed flat. That mix is a choice, and it shows up on the invoice.
Your number is the draw or the salary, after capital, not the magazine average for your firm.
- Read the tax form. NALP treats equity partners as those who file a Schedule K-1 and receive no more than half their compensation on a fixed-income basis.
- Budget the buy-in. Above the Law, citing an Am Law survey on 11 July 2025, put typical new-equity capital in a 25–35 percent-of-compensation band. Nonequity partners typically do not write that check.
- A $40 million package is an anecdote. Bloomberg Law on 10 June 2026 reported a compensation adviser describing 2026 individual packages at more than $40 million as the extreme end. It is not a band.
- The company on the other side of the invoice is tightening. Worked rates rose 7.4 percent against 2.8 percent inflation in the October 2025 Thomson Reuters Institute rates report. Realization is where the fight now sits.
The residual was a magazine number. The invoice was the cost.
Two paychecks share one title.
Nonequity is a paycheck. Equity is a residual after capital. Citi's 2026 advisory is the cleanest public account of how fast the salaried tier is growing, and why a general counsel cannot read PEP as the cost of the named lawyer.
Fixed-income nonequityK-1 equity residual
- Nonequity / income partner More than half of pay is fixed. The title bills at partner rates. No typical capital call. Not in the PEP denominator.
- Hybrid or trial seat A nonequity year used as a proving ground, or a lockstep firm’s of-counsel parallel. Same word, different cash and vote.
- Equity partner Schedule K-1. Capital in. Residual out. This is the headcount PEP divides by — and the seat a company cannot copy onto payroll.
NALP counted 20,036 partners at multi-tier firms that reported equity status in its 2025 Directory of Legal Employers, with 11,154 equity and 8,882 nonequity. Equity partners fell from 61.3 percent of all partners in that set in 2011 to 55.7 percent in 2025, a 0.6-point drop from 2024. The sample is a volunteer NDLE subset — 488 offices, about 75,993 lawyers — and 230 fewer offices than 2024, about 31,000 fewer lawyers. It is not a census of every US partner. It is the cleanest public split of the title. In that same 2025 set, women were 29.55 percent of partners and 26.5 percent of equity partners; more than 58 percent of men partners in multi-tier firms were equity, against 49 percent of women partners. A chief legal officer hiring off a firm cannot read those shares as a pay band, but they do show who sits in the PEP denominator.
Citi’s 2026 Client Advisory puts the same split in motion. Large firms added income partners at 6.4 percent a year on average during 2019–24 against 0.7 percent average annual equity-partner growth, with all-partner headcount up 3.0 percent a year. Through nine months of 2025, equity-partner headcount fell 0.5 percent while income partners grew 6 percent; overall headcount rose 2.9 percent, all from salaried lawyers. Leverage rose 4.3 percent. Seventy-two percent of large firms plan to invest in more income partners over the next two years; 67 percent expect to increase lawyer leverage through 2027. Bloomberg Law’s 10 June 2026 self-reported firm survey found equity shareholder counts roughly flat last year while nonequity partners grew 5 percent.
That leverage is why PEP can rise while the titled partner in the room is on a salary. Original Jurisdiction’s 30 April 2026 recap reported Am Law 100 nonequity ranks up almost 7 percent in 2025 against 2 percent equity growth. Citi’s 2024 contribution cut found the average counsel contributed almost twice as much to overall firm profitability as the average income partner, because income partners were less productive and paid considerably more. Promoted income partners: 66 percent above break-even; lateral income partners 56 percent (additions 2020–24). A head of legal at a PE-backed healthcare platform told us they would not match a counter-offer written as a percentage of PEP because the sitting firm had not disclosed whether the lawyer was equity. Nonequity is a paycheck. Equity is a residual after capital.
Capital is the second cash outflow on the equity seat. Above the Law, on 11 July 2025, citing an Am Law survey, put the norm for a new-equity buy-in between 25 and 35 percent of compensation. Citi’s 2026 advisory notes that partner paid-in capital has risen for years as firms de-risked after 2008–10, but growth in paid-in capital has not kept pace with net income. ABA Model Rule 5.4 still bars a lawyer from forming a partnership with a nonlawyer if any of the activities consist of the practice of law, which is why the 2026 partner is still paid by a lawyer-owned partnership funded by client fees, not by a private-equity salary band. Citi expects management-service-organization experiments at smaller, high-volume firms, and calls them less likely at large firms.
The hours that funded the residual, and the hours that did not.
Mega-deal M&A, tariffs and a thinner FCPA docket pulled 2025–26 partner demand in opposite directions. A general counsel buying those hours, and a partner earning them, were not in the same market.
Calendar 2025 was a year in which mega-deal M&A and a redirected white-collar docket paid different partners. The clocks below are the statutory and docket facts a general counsel should have on the matter list, not a second PEP table.
2025 clocks that cut books2026 clocks that replaced them
- FCPA pause New investigations halted, then narrowed to cartel, infrastructure and serious individual misconduct. Volume FCPA leverage thinned; national-security bribery seats did not.
- HSR form, then vacatur The 2025 mega-form inflated filing-prep hours. The Eastern District of Texas and the Fifth Circuit sent filers back to the old form. Merger-control partners on mega-deals stayed scarce.
- IEEPA strike, CIT refunds The Supreme Court pulled the tariff statute. Section 122 and a Court of International Trade refund docket replaced it. Trade partners did not go quiet.
LSEG recorded $4.6 trillion of global announced M&A in 2025, up 49 percent from 2024, the highest since 2021, with 68 mega-deals above $10 billion — the most since 1980, per Reuters on 8 January 2026. Wells Fargo’s M&A Market Pulse, using LSEG data as of 30 June 2026, put first-half 2026 US announced M&A at about $1.9 trillion, with mega-deals 56 percent of volume. That concentration is why a handful of eight-figure PEP firms could still enlarge the residual in a year of executive-order theater, while a mid-market nonequity M&A partner did not automatically follow.
Thomson Reuters Institute’s 7 January 2026 report found 2025 demand up 1.9 percent for the year and 3.9 percent in the third quarter, the third-best demand year since the global financial crisis, on a 184-firm Financial Insights sample. Midsize firms took nearly 5 percent demand growth in the latter half of 2025; Am Law 100 firms could not crack 2 percent — the largest segment gap since the crisis. Transactional and counter-cyclical hours rose together, which is the mix that funded equity residuals while bankruptcy and patent-litigation hours did not.
Executive Order 14209, signed 10 February 2025, paused new FCPA investigations for 180 days. The Deputy Attorney General’s 9 June 2025 guidelines narrowed the statute to cartel and transnational-criminal-organization nexus, identifiable US-company harm, key infrastructure and serious individual misconduct. The Criminal Division’s 12 May 2025 white-collar plan redirected partner-level work toward healthcare and procurement fraud, tariff evasion, sanctions and cartel-adjacent cases. Classic FCPA volume at investigations desks dropped in the first half of 2025; the partner who can staff cartel, sanctions and national-security bribery did not.
The Supreme Court held on 20 February 2026, 6–3, that IEEPA does not authorize tariffs, per Steptoe’s account current as of 4 March 2026. IEEPA duties stopped being collected on 24 February 2026. A same-day Section 122 tariff, capped at 150 days, and a Court of International Trade refund docket replaced the book: Holland & Knight, on 27 July 2026, counted more than 3,700 IEEPA refund suits pending at the CIT. On the merger-control side, the Eastern District of Texas vacated the February 2025 HSR mega-form on 12 February 2026; the Fifth Circuit denied a stay on 19 March 2026, and the FTC Premerger Notification Office went back to the pre-10 February 2025 form. Filing-prep hours fell. Equity antitrust partners on mega-deals did not become abundant.
Firm Prospects counted 3,009 Am Law 200 partner laterals in 2025, a five-year high, up 10 percent, with litigation 26 percent, corporate 16 percent and intellectual property 8 percent. New York took 606 of those partner hires. Nine percent came from government: 67 from U.S. Attorney’s Offices, 50 from the Department of Justice. Reuters, citing the U.S. Office of Personnel Management on 29 January 2026, recorded 8,599 licensed attorneys leaving federal service between inauguration and November 2025, a net decline of 6,524. The 200 highest-grossing US firms hired 1,129 attorneys in 2025 who had left federal service the same year — 8.54 percent of those firms’ attorney hires. That is a supply shock into investigations, sanctions, national security and antitrust-conduct seats. It is not a lift for middle-market nonequity M&A.
Elite 2026 promotion classes clustered where Citi already saw growth books. An Am Law 1–10 lockstep-adjacent firm elected five new partners effective 1 January 2026, plus six of counsel. Another Am Law 1–10 platform promoted 40 associates to partner on 1 January 2026 and 22 counsel to partner on 1 March 2026, with the associate class weighted to M&A and private equity, capital markets, and banking and private credit. A third elected 28 new partners effective 1 January 2026, with finance, M&A and investment funds the largest desks. Those seats advise sponsors, public companies, financial institutions and private-credit funds — the same buyer types sitting in the ACC sample. The of-counsel parallel at the lockstep firm is a reminder: senior is not always equity.
Three prices, two readers, one search.
Sartori's New York partner desk has closed 22 searches over three years at a 93 percent completion rate. The files that ran long were the files that treated PEP as take-home. The files that closed on the 15-day median were the files that named equity, nonequity and the invoice at intake.
What the company meetsWhat the partner takes
- The hourly invoice Worked rate, realization, staffing mix. This is the number a general counsel can put in a budget. PEP never appears on it.
- The in-house alternative A deputy GC or specialist hired onto payroll. Same legal work, different cash, different reporting line. The ACC freeze makes this the scarce internal option.
- The draw or the salary Equity residual after capital, or nonequity fixed pay. This is what the titled lawyer actually earns. It is the number a counter-offer has to beat.
We have worked in the New York market for more than 10 years, for companies that buy partner time and for firms that pay it. Over the trailing three years we closed 22 partner searches with a 93 percent completion rate and a typical timeline of 4 to 7 months. Sartori’s New York partner mandate telemetry records a 39 percent counter-offer incidence on that 22-file set, and a median of 15 working days from offer to signature. Of those 22 closed files, 13 were firm-instructed equity or nonequity seats and 9 were company-instructed hires of lawyers then sitting as partners. Of the 13 firm-instructed files, 8 were equity seats and 5 were nonequity.
Of 512 New York equity and nonequity partners inside the same interview cohort who had received a distribution or a salaried draw in the prior 12 months, over a 24-month window, 61 percent said their last-year take-home sat below their firm’s published PEP (if they were equity) or that PEP was not their pay at all (if they were nonequity). In the 2026 second-quarter survey wave, 41 of 55 New York general counsel respondents named the hourly rate as the first number they wanted on a partner seat; 6 named PEP. The uncomfortable read is on our own intake. Of the 22 closed searches, 5 files ran past the typical 4-to-7-month window. On 3 of those 5, the first offer had been written against published PEP rather than the candidate’s actual draw or salary, and Sartori had not stripped that figure at intake. A page that only reports the 93 percent completion rate would be selling the method. The five overdue files are why the method has a briefing step.
Three composite files
A PE-backed healthcare platform instructed a New York search for a deputy general counsel off an Am Law 100 nonequity seat. The company’s first compensation paper used the firm’s published PEP as a ceiling. The sitting lawyer was nonequity. The file closed in five months, inside the typical window, after the offer was rewritten as a salary-plus-bonus against in-house cash, not against the residual. A counter-offer arrived from the firm — consistent with the 39 percent incidence on this desk — and was declined in 15 working days once the title was named correctly.
A listed industrials general counsel asked us to re-panel an M&A seat after a 2025 invoice from an Am Law 50 firm cleared four figures an hour on mid-complexity diligence. The replacement panel sat at a Second Hundred platform whose 2025 PEP printed above several Am Law 100 names and whose worked rate did not. The company kept the Am Law 50 firm for the mega-deal and moved the diligence. That is the two-tier hourly market in a single legal department, not a theory.
An Am Law Second Hundred litigation platform hired an equity partner whose book the committee had priced off a national PEP average. The candidate’s actual collections sat closer to that firm’s own PEP than to the Am Law 100 mean. The guarantee was rewritten on a conservative case. The file was one of the 13 firm-instructed seats in the 22. It closed. The first offer would not have.
The service view of a company-side hire sits on our in-house and general counsel recruiting page. Firm-side partner work sits on lateral partner recruiting. The companion briefing on why PEP fails as a fee or a payroll input is PEP: useful metric or vanity number; the Am Law 50 cut of the same residual is what partners really make at the top 50. Lockstep versus eat-what-you-kill is a different article: partner compensation models.
The public record still will not show the nonequity paycheck.
Sartori maps about 67,000 lawyers in New York, the market this partner desk covers. Mapping does not record a nonequity W-2, and neither does ALM.
Sartori & Partners maps nearly 1.5 million lawyer profiles globally and has run quarterly market surveys since 2019. Google Ads Keyword Planner, measured 11 September 2026 across four countries, puts US monthly searches for the exact query this page answers at 1,300. That volume is why the table is the product, not a PEP essay. What the table cannot carry is a nonequity dollar average. Citi documents contribution and productivity, not a W-2. NALP documents the split and the tax-form test. ALM documents equity residuals and a CAP growth rate whose cash table we could not open. A figure that is not in those instruments is omitted.
The same honesty applies to the extreme. Bloomberg Law’s 10 June 2026 piece is usable as color: individual 2026 packages above $40 million exist at the edge of a self-reported survey. It is not a band a general counsel can budget, and it is not a band a partner should treat as a comparable. Am Law 100 profits per lawyer are up 53.7 percent since 2019; Second Hundred PPL is up 39.0 percent over the same window, per the January 2026 Thomson Reuters Institute report. Those are cumulative indices, not 2026 take-home.
Ninety percent of legal dollars still flow through hourly billing, per the same Thomson Reuters Institute landing. Firms spent nearly 10 percent more on technology in 2025 and 8.2 percent more on talent. There is no sourced 2026 partner reduction-in-force from generative AI in the file. The tension shows up in general-counsel rate pushback and in nonequity leverage, not in a published decline in PEP. ALM recorded that nearly all of the 13 firms hit with an executive order or who struck deals still posted 2025 revenue growth. Reuters reported that nine firms pledged a combined total of nearly $1 billion in free legal services. Neither fact collapsed the residual. Neither fact is a salary.
A company that needs a number for a board paper has three that survive contact with a compensation committee: the worked hour on the panel, the posted cash range on an in-house hire, and the candidate’s actual draw or salary, named as equity or nonequity. Everything else on this page is context for those three. If the first offer still carries a PEP print, the file is already late.
Law firm partner salary in 2026: questions from both sides of the invoice
How much do law firm partners make in 2026?
Three different paychecks, plus an invoice the company pays. The 2026 Am Law 100, published 14 April 2026 on calendar-2025 results, put average profits per equity partner at $3.59 million; the Second Hundred averaged $1,207,826. Neither figure is a nonequity salary, and neither is the hourly rate a general counsel is billed. Equity is a residual after capital; nonequity is mostly fixed pay under the NALP test; the buyer of the time is the corporate legal department.
Is profits per partner the same thing as a partner salary?
No. PEP divides firm net income by equity-partner headcount, not by every lawyer titled partner. The American Lawyer’s 14 April 2026 hub is explicit that the 14.0 percent 2025 rise is a cohort average for equity owners. Profits per lawyer, which divides by all lawyers, put Wachtell at $3,525,000 on the 2026 list — a different, lower ratio. Average Compensation–All Partners rose 11.6 percent in 2025; the dollar table was not retrieved, so this page does not invent a CAP cash figure.
How much does a nonequity partner make compared with an equity partner?
The public record does not publish a 2026 nonequity dollar average from a primary source this page can cite, so none is stated. NALP’s 2025 report, released 24 March 2026, counted 8,882 nonequity partners against 11,154 equity partners in the multi-tier offices that disclosed status — 44.3 percent of that partner set. Nonequity lawyers receive more than half their compensation on a fixed-income basis; they generally do not write the 25–35 percent-of-compensation capital check that Above the Law, citing an Am Law survey on 11 July 2025, treated as the new-equity norm.
Who actually pays a law firm partner — the firm or the company?
The firm writes the K-1 or the salary; the general counsel writes the check that funds it. Thomson Reuters Institute’s 7 January 2026 market report found Am Law 100 standard rates cracked $1,000 an hour in 2025 while other firms averaged around $600, and that legal departments moved work to firms charging in many cases 40 percent less. ACC’s 2026 Chief Legal Officers Survey (1,049 CLOs) found 63 percent holding in-house headcount flat while 48 percent increased outside-counsel use — the pressure valve is the firm partner, not a new internal seat.
Do Second Hundred partners earn less than Am Law 100 partners?
On the average, yes; on the individual, not always. Above the Law’s 5 May 2026 recap of the 2026 Am Law 200 put Second Hundred average PEP at $1,207,826, about one-third of the Am Law 100 average. The same recap listed Cole Scott at $6,350,000 and Cahill at $5,652,000 — Second Hundred equity partners at high-PEP boutiques who out-earn the Am Law 100 mean. A general counsel who budgets off the mean will mis-price both the boutique and the leveraged giant.
How should a general counsel budget for partner time in 2026?
Budget the invoice and the in-house alternative, not the firm’s PEP print. Worked rates rose 7.4 percent against 2.8 percent inflation in the Thomson Reuters Institute Law Firm Rates Report dated 20 October 2025, while Q3 2025 Net Spend Anticipation showed 13 percent of departments expecting spend increases against 22 percent expecting cuts. Ask whether the named lawyer is equity or nonequity, whether capital sits behind the title, and whether the matter belongs at a $1,000 Am Law 100 rate or at a ~$600 firm. Sartori’s New York partner desk closes files on a 4-to-7-month typical timeline when those three questions are answered at intake.
Am Law rankings, Citi, Thomson Reuters, NALP and the ACC CLO survey.
Equity residuals come from the 2026 Am Law 100 and Am Law 200. The title split comes from NALP. Rates, demand and buyer sentiment come from Thomson Reuters Institute and the ACC chief legal officer survey. Capital and income-partner economics come from Citi Hildebrandt. Regulatory clocks come from the orders, the docket and the agencies.

PEP, PPL, RPL and CAP are different ratios and are not added. Am Law figures are firm-reported to ALM for calendar 2025, published April–May 2026. NALP is a volunteer NDLE subset that shrank in 2025. Citi sampling is the Annual Survey Database plus a 185-firm nine-month flash. Thomson Reuters Financial Insights is 184 US-based firms; Market Insights covers about 2,500 legal buyers with revenue above $50 million. The $40 million individual package is adviser color from Bloomberg Law, not a published band. No nonequity W-2 average and no CAP dollar average appear because neither was retrieved from a primary table.
Our own numbers — the New York interview cohort, the 22 closed partner searches, the 39 percent counter-offer incidence and the 15-day offer-to-acceptance window — come from the continuous research program described on our research page.
