Lawyer Salary in Germany 2026: three cities, three payers
Quinn Emanuel raised its German year-1 base to EUR 190,000 from July 2026. That ceiling is a five-office litigation print. It is not the cash a Munich industrial general counsel pays, and it is not a Berlin Magic Circle cell.
The 2026 number is a perimeter, not a cell.
Quinn Emanuel raised its German year-1 base to EUR 190,000 from July 2026, as compiled by azur on 19 June 2026. That lawyer salary Germany ceiling is a five-office litigation print. Sartori maps roughly 5,000 lawyers from Frankfurt; the mapping records admission and employer, not which lockstep a person currently sits on.
Quinn Emanuel raised German associate bases from July 2026: year 1 EUR 190,000, as compiled by azur on 19 June 2026. Five German offices. This is the 2026 cash ceiling for a German-qualified associate, not a Berlin Magic Circle cell. azur ↗
Five prints, three payers, three cities. The USD conversions of the euro figures sit on the axis in the next section. The full years 1–3 table is below.

Open the table before the narrative. Year-1 bases in the commercial book ran from a mid-market floor near EUR 68,000 to a US-firm ceiling of EUR 190,000. The city column is the point.

azur states it uses employer information, associate information and public sources; it is a compilation, not a census. Hengeler Mueller adds a one-off EUR 10,000 for an LL.M. on the LTO profile. Quinn Emanuel’s year-1 all-in, with bonus from EUR 15,000, reaches EUR 205,000 on the 19 June 2026 notice. Sidley Austin year 4 is EUR 200,000 on the same Munich-only profile.
STAR employed private-practice average
EUR 82,000 gross for Wirtschaftsjahr 2024, converted at 1.1592.
STAR 2025; ECB 11 September 2026 ↗Quinn Emanuel’s EUR 190,000 year-1 print is 2.32 times the STAR employed average of EUR 82,000. That ratio is a conversion of two published 2026-facing figures, not a third survey. A general counsel who briefs “German commercial associate cash” as if those two numbers described one market is briefing a ratio, not a salary.
The US 2026 Milbank associate scale — a first-year base of USD 235,000 from 1 July 2026 — is a New York lockstep. German offices of US firms pay the euro bases in the table above. Do not convert USD 235,000 into a German figure, and do not describe the euro prints as a Cravath match. The US ladder is documented on our BigLaw associate salary scale for 2026; it is a boundary for this page, not a source of German cash.
A Magic Circle lockstep is a city map, not a national rate.
Three books write the paycheck. Only one of them is lockstep.
The lawyer who earns the figure and the general counsel who pays it are reading the same table and living in different books. STAR measures the in-house and employed majority. azur compiles the lockstep minority.
Employed majorityCommercial lockstep
- Einzelkanzlei and Sozietaet employers The statistical majority of employed private-practice lawyers. STAR prices this book. It is not the Frankfurt banking chair and not the Munich PE cell.
- In-house Syndikus desks Banks, exchanges, insurers, industrials. A second admission under BRAO sections 46 and 46a. The company is the payer. STAR is the only nationwide measured series.
- US, Magic Circle and German-elite lockstep The high year-1 band. Office maps do not match. The candidate still earns here when a company tries to hire out of it.
BRAK counted 167,547 natural persons admitted to the profession as of 1 January 2026, in the press release of 15 April 2026. Single-admission private-practice lawyers fell to 138,420. Dual admissions (Rechtsanwalt and Syndikus) rose to 20,848. Syndizi rose 9.15 percent in the year to 1 January 2026, after BRAK had already recorded an 11.45 percent jump to 7,585 on 1 January 2025. The company side is not a rounding error on a Magic Circle table.
The credential into both books is Befaehigung zum Richteramt under DRiG section 5: two Staatsexamina. The Bundesamt fuer Justiz, on 30 June 2026, reported 8,084 second-exam passers in 2024, of whom 21.7 percent finished Referendariat at vollbefriedigend, gut or sehr gut. That 21.7 percent band is the practical pool for the commercial lockstep and for the DAX and bank advertisements that still ask for two Praedikatsexamina. A head of legal who writes “two Staatsexamen” without naming the grade has described the profession, not the shortlist.
The in-house admission is a second gate. BRAO section 46(1) covers a lawyer employed by a law firm. A lawyer employed by any other employer practices as Syndikusrechtsanwalt only if the role is independently legal work for that employer and is admitted under section 46a. RAK Berlin’s Merkblatt records that the employer and applicant co-sign an activity description, Deutsche Rentenversicherung is heard, and GmbH managing directors are out because there is no employment relationship. The title after admission is “Rechtsanwalt (Syndikusrechtsanwalt).” Cash without the Zulassung is a different seat.
The Bundesverband der Unternehmensjuristinnen und Unternehmensjuristen counted 3,408 natural-person members as of 1 June 2026, per the Bundestag lobby register (last change 17 July 2026). diruj’s Kanzleimonitor 2025/2026, published 30 September 2025, gathered 10,603 recommendations from 686 German companies across 28 industries. Practice labels with the most in-house recommendations: employment 9.1 percent, corporate 7.9 percent, M&A 7.3 percent. Overall firm recommendations: CMS 405, Gleiss Lutz 338, Freshfields 272. That panel is whom general counsel instruct, not how many seats they open — and it is the map of which firm-side practices a corporate payer still buys when the in-house desk is staffed.
Sozietaeten employed lawyers averaged EUR 86,000 in the same STAR wave. Full-time Syndizi averaged EUR 132,000. Under-40 Syndizi averaged EUR 89,000; ages 50–65 averaged EUR 139,000. A chief legal officer hiring a capital-markets counsel in Frankfurt out of the under-40 band is not in the age-50 average, and should not brief it as if it were the ask.
Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin do not share a Magic Circle cell.
The chamber counts in the opening grid are membership, not commercial headcount. The office maps below are the cash maps. A lawyer salary Berlin figure that copies a Frankfurt banking print is priced on an office that often does not exist.
Finance and fundsPublic law and digital
- Frankfurt Banks, funds, PE sponsors, BaFin-facing desks, Deutsche Boerse Group Legal. DORA, MiCAR, funds and a thin IPO window price the seat.
- Munich Industrials, automotive supply, PE/M&A, defense suppliers. A US-boutique cell sits here and does not sit in Berlin. Sidley is Munich-only.
- Berlin Public law, data, healthcare, AI market surveillance. White & Case is the US full-service office that actually posts here. Clifford Chance and A&O Shearman do not.
RAK Frankfurt dual-admission (Rechtsanwalt and Syndikus) stood at 3,398 and Syndikus-only at 839 as of 1 January 2026; RAK Muenchen at 3,259 dual and 1,202 Syndikus-only; RAK Berlin at 1,611 dual and 609 Syndikus-only, per the Mitgliederstatistik PDF (stand 14 April 2026). RAK Frankfurt is not the city: the chamber’s own page lists the Landgericht districts of Darmstadt, Frankfurt am Main, Giessen, Hanau, Limburg and Wiesbaden. Treat those Syndizi counts as chamber geography, not as “Frankfurt lawyers.”
Hengeler Mueller is the domestic elite book that does include Berlin: offices Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich; about 400 lawyers, about 92 partners, about 75 associate hires per year; first-year EUR 150,000 plus EUR 10,000 one-off for an LL.M., on the LTO employer profile (firm-supplied, accessed September 2026). Noerr lists six German offices including Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich; 490 lawyers nationally; 80–100 associate hires per year; published Einstiegsgehalt EUR 140,000. Gleiss Lutz live associate lines accessed in September 2026 put Banking & Finance in Frankfurt and Munich only; Berlin’s early-career gravity on that board is corporate, public law, healthcare, IP/tech, employment and data protection. The German full-service hiring surface still includes Berlin. The Magic Circle map often does not.
Clifford Chance Germany: about 320 lawyers, about 50 associate hires per year, lockstep EUR 155,000–180,000 years 1–6, offices Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf. Freshfields lists Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich on its Germany careers page. CMS Germany lists eight offices including Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich — the full-service payer Kanzleimonitor’s general counsel recommend most often. White & Case: over 300 German lawyers, 163 associates, 67 partners; 2026 plan 65–75 Volljuristen; four offices, no Munich. Sidley Austin: about 24 German lawyers, 15 associates, 7 partners; about four associate hires per year; year 1 EUR 170,000; practices listed Corporate/Private Equity/M&A, Restructuring, Finance, Tax, Life Sciences. Kirkland & Ellis opened Frankfurt in 2024 for private equity/M&A, public takeovers and restructuring, paired with Munich; the firm’s own page does not publish a German lockstep, so none is quoted here.
Deutsche Boerse AG Group Legal, on the careers site accessed in September 2026, posts Legal Counsel in Corporate & Commercial Legal from Frankfurt: financing and capital-markets law, Gesellschaftsrecht, group financings, capital-markets transactions, corporate governance, contract work, and coordination of external counsel. Gates on the same page: first and second German Staatsexamen, preferably several years in a large firm or in-house, LL.M./MBA/doctorate advantageous, German and English. That is the market-infrastructure general-counsel seat that pays the Frankfurt in-house figure. It is not a Magic Circle cell, and it is not priced off Quinn Emanuel’s litigation ceiling.
The JUVE 100, on 29 September 2025, put combined German revenue of the 100 largest commercial firms at EUR 10.4 billion, up 8.1 percent, the first crossing of EUR 10 billion. Revenue per lawyer was EUR 663,000. Lawyer headcount in that set grew 2.7 percent — about three percentage points slower than the prior year’s hiring. Gleiss Lutz rose 15 percent to EUR 288.8 million; Linklaters rose 15.4 percent to EUR 280 million; Latham & Watkins reached EUR 252 million, up 12 percent. International firms were more able to push hourly rates; among non-US firms only Hengeler cleared EUR 1 million UBT. Commercial lockstep sits on this revenue. It does not sit on STAR’s Einzelkanzlei book.
The Syndikus average is what a company actually pays. The lockstep is what the shortlist still earns.
The brief fails when it treats three cities as one cash cell.
In that Frankfurt interview cohort, general counsel named the city of the seat before they named a lockstep. Mandate telemetry on the same associate line shows where the file then stalls.
Of 91 general counsel, chief legal officers and heads of legal at banks, industrials and DAX-adjacent groups in that cohort, interviewed over a 24-month window, 64 named Frankfurt, Munich or Berlin as a pricing fact before they named a year-1 print. The remaining 27 treated German commercial cash as one band and then lost the first-choice candidate to a seat that actually posted in the city they had assumed was interchangeable. That is a cohort read, not a census of German in-house departments.
Of 23 closed Frankfurt associate searches over three years, 14 were commercial lockstep seats (US, Magic Circle or German-elite) and 9 were mid-market or regional. Of those 14 commercial files, 6 required a rewritten brief after the first candidate rejected a single-cell cash number. 5 of the 23 closed files ran past the 12-week typical timeline because the brief had priced Berlin or Munich as if it were Frankfurt banking cash. Those five still closed. They closed late, and they closed after the company had already told a board a date the map could not support. That is the finding that does not flatter the method: the stall is usually in the brief we were handed, not in the shortlist we ran.
A chief legal officer at a CRR credit institution in Frankfurt told us they had budgeted a DORA counsel seat against the STAR Syndikus average, then watched the shortlist walk toward a US-firm print. The correction was not a signing bonus. It was a recognition that the company was buying out of lockstep, not promoting inside Syndizi. A head of legal at a Bavarian automotive supplier told us they will not match a EUR 190,000 litigation lockstep for an in-house supply-chain chair, and they do not pretend the two books are the same market. Both testimonies are from named roles at described types of organization. Neither is a person’s name.
The Praedikat gate is where company processes stall in a different way. Commercial desks in this thesis still demand at least vollbefriedigend. When that filter is applied after the second round rather than at the brief, the process burns weeks on people the gate will remove. The 21.7 percent band is small. It is not enlarged by a title or a bonus. Sartori’s Frankfurt mapping records admission and employer. It does not record exam grade or which lockstep a lawyer currently sits on, because no public register does. That is a coverage limit, not a selling point.
Who pays the 2026 cash is the bank, the industrial, the fund or the Bund.
The regulatory year does not hire a class of newly qualified associates. It prices mid-level and in-house seats in three different cities.
| City | Who pays the lawyer | 2026 driver on the file | What not to bid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frankfurt | Banks, funds, PE sponsors, BaFin-facing desks, market-infrastructure legal | DORA in application since 17 January 2025; FinmadiG second wave 1 January 2027; thin IPO year; StoFoG funds/listing plumbing | Do not brief a Berlin public-law print against a banking regulatory chair |
| Munich | Industrials, automotive supply, PE/M&A, defense and energy OEMs | LkSG duties remain; BAFA stopped reading reports from 1 October 2025; CSDDD 1:1 course toward 2029; 2026 defense procurement | Do not brief STAR employed cash against a Munich US PE lockstep |
| Berlin | Public-law, digital/AI, healthcare, DAX-adjacent general counsel forums; one US full-service office | NIS-2 from 6 December 2025; KI-MIG in force 29 July 2026 with BNetzA as default AI authority | Do not brief Clifford Chance or A&O Shearman cash — those German maps omit Berlin |
DORA (Regulation (EU) 2022/2554) has applied since 17 January 2025, per BaFin’s 10 January 2025 notice. KAIT, VAIT and ZAIT were repealed at the close of 16 January 2025. Remaining BAIT users drop out by 31 December 2026, because FinmadiG’s recast KWG section 1a(2) brings further institutes under DORA from 1 January 2027. BaFin’s Risiken im Fokus 2026, dated 28 January 2026 in Frankfurt, recorded 525 serious ICT incidents in the first three quarters of 2025. The 16 July 2026 analysis of the full 2025 reporting year states 733 ICT incidents. The same January report commits BaFin to at least 75 special AML inspections in 2026. This is Frankfurt financial-regulatory and in-house bank legal work at mid-level to counsel. It is not a Berlin Magic Circle cell and not an NQ lockstep driver.
BaFin’s first German MiCAR measure landed on a Frankfurt issuer: on 14 April 2025 it ordered Ethena GmbH to wind up authorization-required USDe-token business, with a EUR 600,000 coercive fine set on 4 April 2025 (consumer notice 15 April 2025, modified 16 May 2025). Across 2025, BaFin opened 142 administrative-fine proceedings and imposed fines totalling EUR 80,937,500. The Standortfoerdergesetz (StoFoG) was promulgated on 9 February 2026 (BGBl. 2026 I Nr. 33) and carries listing-act, funds and VC plumbing into the same Frankfurt seat even in a thin IPO year. PwC’s 18 December 2025 Emissionsmarkt Deutschland recorded three Frankfurt IPOs in 2025 for EUR 1.186 billion, the weakest year since 2020, against five IPOs and EUR 1.914 billion in 2024. The live hub, with transactions through 26 June 2026, recorded four IPOs in 2026 H1 for EUR 692 million. Deutsche Boerse cash-market order-book turnover in 2025 was EUR 1.755 trillion on Xetra plus Frankfurt, per the 2 January 2026 annual statistics. Dual-track means PE/M&A in Frankfurt and Munich still pays when the IPO window does not.
Munich’s 2026 in-house file is supply-chain and industrial, not a report factory. BAFA, on 1 October 2025, stopped reading LkSG reports; remaining duties on risk analysis, contracts and complaints procedures stay on the statute book. Bird & Bird, on 4 August 2026, recorded that the federal cabinet’s 2 July 2026 package commits to 1:1 CSDDD implementation, with application pushed toward 26 July 2029 after Omnibus I. Volume associate seats tied to BAFA filings are the ones that go. Senior commercial and ESG counsel at Munich industrials do not. The Bundestag’s 9 September 2026 debate on Einzelplan 14 put 2026 regular defense spending at EUR 82.7 billion plus EUR 25.5 billion from the Sondervermoegen Bundeswehr, and 2026 military procurement at EUR 45 billion. That is who pays a 2026 German defense lawyer in Munich and at listed suppliers — public procurement, export control, FDI, government contracts — not London secondment economics.
Berlin’s 2026 overlay is digital and public-law. The German NIS-2 implementing act entered into force on 6 December 2025. KI-MIG entered into force on 29 July 2026; section 2(1) names the Bundesnetzagentur as default AI Act market-surveillance authority, and section 2(3) names BaFin for AI systems tied to regulated financial activity. BaFin’s 28 January 2026 risk report still stated that the German CSRD implementing act was not in force; Noerr’s 13 April 2026 note records a Bundestag Legal Affairs Committee hearing that day on a narrowed 2027 perimeter. 2026 is a statute-waiting year for ESG reporting counsel. Do not staff a Germany-wide CSRD associate class on the 2024 directive’s original coverage.
The Bundeskartellamt examined 876 concentrations in 2025, with two Phase II openings and a mean Phase II duration of 176 days, per the 30 June 2026 annual-report press and the procedure page. That is Bonn-facing work with private-practice antitrust in Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Berlin. The 15 July 2026 government draft of a 12th GWB amendment would raise turnover thresholds; it is a bill, not a 2026 NQ class. HinSchG’s internal-reporting duty remains in force for employers with 50 or more staff; that is 2026 maintenance of employment and compliance counsel at in-house desks in all three cities, not a new hiring wave.
BaFin’s 28 January 2026 risk report put German real GDP growth at 0.2 percent in 2025 after two recession years. Die Zeit, on 31 August 2026, reporting Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft on new Bundesbank figures, put inbound FDI at about EUR 86 billion in 2025, up 50 percent on 2024. Those are capital-flow and output facts, not a hiring census. They are why a 2026 German legal seat is more often a DORA, PE or defense file than a broad newly-qualified class.
Price the book, name the city, then write the euro number.
The lawyer who earns the figure needs to know which office map the payer actually occupies. The general counsel who pays it needs to know which book the shortlist still sits in. Both close on a company decision.
Your exposure is a euro number tied to a city and a book, not a national average you can paste from STAR into a lockstep requisition.
- Name the city in the brief. Frankfurt banking, Munich PE or Berlin public-law. The office maps in section 04 are the cash maps. Clifford Chance cash is not a Berlin bid.
- Name the book before the band. Syndizi (STAR), German-elite lockstep, US print, or mid-market. A STAR average will not hold a shortlist that still earns White & Case cash.
- Put the Praedikat gate on page one. Two Staatsexamen without a grade describes the profession. Vollbefriedigend is the commercial pool.
- Budget the counter-offer. Incumbent US and Magic Circle employers defend euro prints on this associate line. Do not brief a national average and then act surprised when the incumbent matches.
- Read the statute that creates the seat. DORA, LkSG, NIS-2 and KI-MIG do not hire the same lawyer. Deutsche Boerse Group Legal still asks for two German exams and German plus English on a capital-markets in-house posting.
Your 2026 figure is the lockstep of the office that actually employs you, or the Syndikus average of the company that will. It is not a US dollar ladder and not a chamber membership count.
- Read the office list, not the brand. A Magic Circle name is not a Berlin seat. White & Case is the US full-service print that includes Berlin. Sidley is Munich cash.
- Price Syndizi separately. EUR 123,000 is an average across all in-house seats. A bank or DAX chair will sit above it; a first in-house move out of mid-market lockstep may not.
- Convert only at a dated ECB rate. USD 1.1592 on 11 September 2026 turns EUR 190,000 into USD 220,248. That is for a US report, not a second German scale.
- Do not resign on a STAR number into a lockstep process. Dual admission is a filing pack, not a title you carry between books without the chamber.
- Test the market quietly. The commercial bench in these three cities knows itself. A no-names process exists so the incumbent lockstep does not learn you are looking while you still sit on it.
Three anonymized composites from the Frankfurt associate book, described by category only. None of them is a real company, firm or candidate name. Timelines sit inside the 6-to-12-week envelope.
A Frankfurt bank DORA chair. A CRR credit institution asked for a 3–6 year financial-regulatory counsel who could own ICT-contract and third-party files after DORA’s 17 January 2025 start. The first brief was priced against the STAR Syndikus average. The shortlist was sitting on US and Magic Circle euro prints. The company lifted the band toward the White & Case year-1 neighborhood, named Frankfurt as the seat, and closed in 10 weeks after a counter-offer from the incumbent firm. The stall was the book, not the talent.
A Munich industrial Syndikus. A Bavarian automotive supplier needed a supply-chain and commercial counsel after BAFA stopped reading LkSG reports on 1 October 2025. The work remaining was contracts, complaints procedures and a CSDDD watch, not a report factory. The company refused to match a EUR 190,000 litigation lockstep and said so in the first conversation. The file closed in 8 weeks at a Syndikus band the head of legal could defend to the board. The candidate who wanted Sidley Munich cash took a different process.
A Berlin digital and public-law counsel. A DAX-adjacent group needed a lawyer who could sit on NIS-2 and the new BNetzA interface after KI-MIG’s 29 July 2026 start. The first brief copied a Clifford Chance year-1 print. That firm has no Berlin office. The process burned 11 weeks, including a week lost on a candidate who would not leave a Frankfurt banking seat for a public-law file at Magic Circle cash that was not actually on offer. The close was a White & Case-adjacent in-house number, not a London cell.
The service view of the company-side book sits on our in-house counsel recruiting page. A Cologne general counsel search, priced against the same STAR mean and the local firm cell, is on in-house legal recruiters in Cologne. Frankfurt company and firm mandates are on legal recruiters Frankfurt. The associate-line mechanics sit on associate recruiting. The research program behind the Frankfurt figures is on the research page. A general counsel building a first legal function rather than adding a seat should start with the first general counsel guide.
Lawyer salary in Germany 2026: questions from both sides of the offer
What is a typical lawyer salary Germany figure in 2026?
It is a stack, not a cell: EUR 190,000 at Quinn Emanuel, EUR 123,000 for Syndizi, EUR 82,000 employed. azur, on 19 June 2026, put Quinn Emanuel’s German year-1 base at EUR 190,000 from July 2026. BRAK STAR, covering Wirtschaftsjahr 2024 and published in February 2026, put employed private-practice lawyers at EUR 82,000 gross and Syndikusrechtsanwaelte at EUR 123,000. Those three prints describe three different payers. They do not average into a national rate a general counsel can paste into a requisition.
What does a first-year at a US or Magic Circle firm in Germany earn in 2026?
Published year-1 bases ran from EUR 150,000 at Hengeler Mueller and A&O Shearman to EUR 190,000 at Quinn Emanuel. Clifford Chance Germany lists EUR 155,000 in year 1 rising to EUR 180,000 in year 6, on an azur employer profile that names Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf and does not name Berlin. White & Case, which does sit in Berlin, listed EUR 160,000 plus a bonus of up to EUR 48,000 in azur100 2026 (19 March 2026). Converted at the ECB rate of USD 1.1592 on 11 September 2026, that White & Case base is USD 185,472 before bonus.
What does an in-house Syndikusrechtsanwalt earn in Germany?
BRAK STAR put Syndikusrechtsanwaelte at EUR 123,000 gross for Wirtschaftsjahr 2024, and full-time Syndizi at EUR 132,000. That is the only nationwide measured in-house lawyer cash series from a primary professional body. It is an average across all in-house seats, not a bank general-counsel or DAX chief-legal-officer band. West-Germany Syndizi averaged EUR 125,000 against EUR 97,000 in the East. Under-40 Syndizi averaged EUR 89,000; ages 50–65 averaged EUR 139,000. A company that budgets the STAR average against a US-firm associate print is not in the same market as the shortlist.
Does lawyer salary Berlin match Frankfurt or Munich in 2026?
No. Clifford Chance and A&O Shearman do not list a Berlin office; White & Case does. RAK Berlin counted 15,617 members as of 1 January 2026, against 20,649 at RAK Frankfurt and 24,140 at RAK Muenchen, per BRAK-Mitteilungen 3/2026. Those chambers are not interchangeable commercial pools: RAK Frankfurt covers six Landgericht districts, not the city, and RAK Berlin is the city-state. A lawyer salary Berlin requisition that copies a Frankfurt banking print, or a Munich PE lockstep, is priced on a map the payer does not occupy.
What USD figure corresponds to 2026 German lawyer cash?
At the ECB euro reference rate of USD 1.1592 per euro on 11 September 2026, EUR 190,000 is USD 220,248 and EUR 82,000 is USD 95,054. EUR 160,000 converts to USD 185,472; EUR 150,000 to USD 173,880; EUR 123,000 to USD 142,582. These are conversions of German euro prints. They are not the US 2026 Milbank associate scale, and they must not be written as a German “US scale.”
How long does a Frankfurt associate search take, and what does Sartori actually close?
The Frankfurt associate desk typically closes in 6 to 12 weeks, with a 93 percent completion rate on 23 closed associate searches over three years. Median offer-to-acceptance is eight working days. Counter-offer incidence on that line is 38 percent. They are not a Munich or Berlin closed-search count.
STAR averages, chamber counts, azur locksteps, and BaFin dockets.
Chamber membership and STAR cash come from BRAK. Locksteps come from azur compilations and LTO employer profiles. Supervisory volume comes from BaFin and the Bundeskartellamt. USD comes from the ECB rate on one dated day.

STAR averages are Wirtschaftsjahr 2024, fielded May–September 2025. azur years 1–3 locksteps are a compilation as of September 2026, not a census. USD figures convert the cited euro prints at the ECB reference rate of 1.1592 on 11 September 2026. Chamber counts are members as of 1 January 2026, not municipal headcounts of commercial lawyers. RAK Frankfurt covers six Landgericht districts. The US Milbank/Cravath USD ladder is cited only as a boundary, not as German cash.
The interview cohort, the mandate telemetry, the counter-offer incidence and the offer-to-acceptance window come from the continuous research program described on our research page, which sets out the cohorts, the survey waves and the mapping coverage behind every Sartori figure quoted above.
