Associate — Police & Emergency Services Litigation, Manchester

Respected regional practice seeks an Associate to join its Police & Emergency Services team in Manchester. The role involves handling civil claims brought against police forces and public authorities, including serious injury, false imprisonment, data protection and human rights matters.

You will manage your own fast-track and multi-track caseload on behalf of insurers and public bodies, support senior lawyers on complex and sensitive matters (including large-loss and catastrophic-injury claims), and work closely with counsel and experts. The team offers a supportive environment and a hybrid working model.

• 2–5 years PQE in defendant litigation (police law, public authority defence or large-loss/EL/PL experience preferred)
• Proven experience managing civil claims against public authorities or insurers, including liability assessment
• Strong drafting skills (pleadings, statements) and experience instructing counsel and experts
• Good courtroom/ADR experience, strong communication and client-facing skills
