The client keeps this search open while the right candidate is in market, without a fixed closing date. We take approaches at any stage in your own timeline.

Our client, a full-service firm with a national platform, is expanding its commercial litigation capabilities in two key markets. We are seeking accomplished lateral partners—or groups of litigators—to drive growth in South Florida and Southern California.

The Opportunity

  • South Florida: join an existing commercial litigation group to add depth and bench strength across offices in the region.
  • Southern California: build a sophisticated commercial litigation practice—business litigation, class actions, and complex disputes—that will make a measurable impact in the market.
  • Flexibility in structure: group acquisitions are preferred, but accomplished individual partners with a strong portable practice are also of interest.

Ideal Candidate

  • A self-sustaining, portable book of business (details below).
  • A sophisticated litigation practice—not a general or high-volume defense shop.
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative mindset, comfortable cross-selling and sharing credit.
  • Ability to bring a team (junior partners, senior associates) is a plus.

Why This Firm

  • National platform with roughly 35 offices and nearly 1,100 attorneys.
  • Strong commitment to lateral integration: a dedicated, customized program with business development support.
  • Entrepreneurial culture with meaningful marketing investment and incentives for sharing origination credit.
  • No capital contribution required; C-corporation structure simplifies tax treatment for partners.

Requirements

  • Portable book of business of $1.5M+ (USD) at the shareholder (equity) level; $1M+ (USD) at the member (income) level.
  • For groups: a combined, self-sustaining book that meets the threshold.
  • For Southern California: a sophisticated commercial litigation practice (business litigation, class actions) with the potential to make a market impact.
  • For South Florida: a practice that stands on its own, adding depth to an existing group.
