The role involves advising owners and developers on all phases of commercial and residential construction projects, with regular drafting and negotiation of design, engineering, consulting, and construction agreements as well as access/right-of-entry and closeout agreements.
Responsibilities include counseling clients on construction claims, resolving construction-related disputes outside of arbitration and litigation, and applying a strong working knowledge of construction case law and the New York Lien Law. Transactional real estate experience (development, acquisitions/dispositions, leasing, financing) is a plus.
Candidates should be prepared to assist with client education/business development initiatives and mentor junior lawyers.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Admissions: admitted to and in good standing with the New York bar
- Minimum ~5 years of law firm experience in construction law representing owners/developers
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating construction-related agreements and access/closeout documents
- Experience advising on construction claims and resolving disputes outside of arbitration/litigation; strong knowledge of New York Lien Law and construction case law
- Excellent oral and written communication and drafting skills
- Submit law school transcript, deal sheet, and an original writing sample
