Our client, a globally recognized law firm, is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Corporate Practice in Chicago. This role focuses on private equity and M&A transactions, serving a diverse clientele including private equity funds, venture capital funds, corporate strategics, and high-growth companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, equity financings, joint ventures, and general corporate matters.
- Lead due diligence efforts and manage transaction workflows.
- Draft and negotiate purchase agreements, merger agreements, LLC and LP agreements, and other transaction documents.
- Conduct and oversee legal research; provide strategic and practical advice.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary, international teams to deliver seamless client service.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of substantive M&A and private equity experience at a leading law firm.
- Strong foundation in public and private company transactions; experience representing buyers, sellers, and financial sponsors.
- Superior drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills; ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Commercial mindset, intellectual curiosity, and excellent communication skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to the Illinois bar (or ability to become admitted) and good standing required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $310,000 – $390,000 plus bonus eligibility.
