Apply in confidence →A senior-level attorney is sought to lead trust administration, probate, and estate settlement matters within a Private Client Services group in Indianapolis. The primary focus is fiduciary administration: serving as the day-to-day attorney and point of contact for individual and corporate fiduciaries, beneficiaries, high-net-worth families, and closely held business owners from intake through closing.
The role involves guiding personal representatives and trustees through marshaling, valuing, and retitling assets; paying debts, expenses, and claims; interim and final distributions; supervised and unsupervised estate administrations; and trust-related court proceedings. The attorney will interpret wills and trust instruments, advise on fiduciary powers and discretionary distributions, coordinate post-mortem tax compliance (estate, fiduciary income, gift and GST matters) alongside CPAs and appraisers, and resolve issues such as trust modification, decanting, nonjudicial settlement agreements, and disclaimers. Oversight of closely held business interests, real estate, and other illiquid estate and trust assets is also part of the docket.
Estate planning experience is welcomed as a complementary skill set, with opportunities to advise on planning matters. Attorneys with law firm backgrounds and licensed attorneys currently serving as trust officers, estate or trust settlement officers, fiduciary counsel, or senior fiduciary advisors at banks, trust companies, or family offices are encouraged to apply. The position can be structured as Counsel or partner-track depending on experience and career goals, and hybrid work arrangements are available.

- Deep working knowledge of probate procedure, trust law, fiduciary duties, and post-death administration; Indiana probate and trust experience strongly preferred
- Strong command of estate, gift, GST, and fiduciary income tax principles as applied to administration
- Experience advising individual and corporate fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and high-net-worth families
- Estate planning drafting and exposure to fiduciary litigation or tax controversy are a plus
- Excellent judgment, communication, and client-service skills; ability to navigate sensitive family dynamics discreetly
- Admission to the Indiana bar, or eligibility to obtain admission promptly after hire
