A highly regarded law firm
Apply in confidence →A specialised debt recovery practice is seeking a Lawyer with 1–2 years' post-admission experience to join its high-volume recoveries team in Sydney. The team acts for a diverse client base across multiple industries, managing matters from initial demand through to enforcement and insolvency proceedings with a practical, commercial focus.
This is an advocacy-heavy role: you will spend a significant portion of your week appearing in the NSW Supreme and Local Courts (typically three days per week), preparing for and conducting contested and uncontested hearings, directions hearings and mentions. You will manage debt recovery matters from commencement to judgment and enforcement, run winding up and bankruptcy matters, draft pleadings, affidavits and submissions, and advise clients on recovery strategies and insolvency issues. Negotiating settlements and payment arrangements, and building strong client relationships, are central to the position.
The role offers a high level of responsibility, hands-on mentoring and genuine career development within a collaborative team. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available, though the court-attendance demands of the role mean regular in-person appearances. The firm offers competitive remuneration, recognition and development programs, flexible leave including generous paid parental leave, and a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and wellbeing.
- Admitted lawyer with 1–2 years' post-admission experience
- Experience or strong interest in debt recovery, commercial litigation, insolvency or dispute resolution
- Exposure to NSW court processes and civil litigation procedures
- Confidence appearing in court, or a strong desire to develop advocacy skills
- Experience drafting court documents, correspondence and legal advice
- Excellent file and matter management skills in a high-volume environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Commercially minded, organised and client-focused
