An AmLaw 100-caliber global firm seeks an oil & gas partner (or, ideally, a duo or group) to anchor and build out its transactional energy practice in Texas. This is a foundational hire within a broader strategic build of the firm's energy platform, with a strong preference for candidates based in Houston or Dallas. Washington, D.C. is also a core hub for the practice, and a group or duo in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, or Atlanta would be considered for the right profile.

The firm's energy practice is Chambers-ranked and approaches the sector from a wide range of angles—including traditional utility work, real estate, water, public policy, and data centers (the firm represents several of the world's largest data center operators). Candidates will benefit from a genuinely cross-office, cross-practice, and cross-continental collaborative culture, with a hybrid working policy that emphasizes flexibility and results over rigid attendance.

We are looking for a partner with a strong, portable, self-feeding book of business—more transactional than regulatory, as the firm already has a strong regulatory bench. You will be joining a two-tier, non-lockstep partnership with a competitive compensation structure that recognizes day-one portables and rewards growth.

Portable book of business of $1.5M+ (USD)
Billing rate of $1,000+ per hour
Experience representing oil & gas clients in transactional matters
Ability to bring a self-supporting book—not necessarily one that supports an entire practice
