Knowledge & Innovation Counsel – Technology & Artificial Intelligence

A leading global law firm is seeking a Knowledge & Innovation Counsel (KIC) to serve as the primary point of contact for one or more assigned practice groups on all things knowledge and AI. This is a substantive, practice-embedded role built for a modern model of knowledge management in the age of AI.

The KIC will set strategic direction for AI and knowledge initiatives, curate practice expertise so that AI can put it to work, partner with an internal Applied AI team to develop and customize practice solutions, guide attorneys to the best tools and technology for each task across the lifecycle of a matter, and support substantive and technical training that builds real comfort and fluency with AI. The role operates independently and leverages substantial legal and technical experience, sound judgment, and strong relationship-building skills to shape, execute, and scale AI-enabled solutions.

The firm is hiring for this position to support practices including Intellectual Property, Regulatory (including Antitrust and Data Privacy & Cybersecurity), Private Client & Tax, Business Restructuring, Energy, Real Estate, and Financial Institutions.

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited university.
• At least six (6) years of practice experience and/or knowledge management experience, with substantive knowledge and practice experience directly aligned with the assigned practice.
• Demonstrated interest in and working familiarity with AI platforms (e.g., Harvey, Claude, ChatGPT, CoCounsel, Copilot) and how they apply to legal work.
• Experience with practice technology and knowledge platforms (e.g., Practical Law, litigation analytics, brief analyzers, deal closing tools, document automation, data extraction).
• Ability to translate practice group needs into requirements for prompts, agents, and workflows, and to translate technical capabilities into practical guidance attorneys can use.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with experience delivering training and driving user adoption.
• Experience structuring and curating legal knowledge and work product for effective use, including by AI systems.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities using data to inform decisions, and ability to work independently with sound judgment.
• Prior experience mentoring, training, or supervising junior attorneys or professional staff; demonstrated track record leading AI or knowledge management initiatives.
