A global law firm
Apply in confidence →A leading global law firm's flexible legal resourcing platform is seeking an experienced native title, land access and/or projects lawyer to support a major organisation on a part-time consultancy engagement of approximately 4–6 months, based in Perth.
The role centres on land tenure and access: reviewing, managing, renewing and securing tenure arrangements, modernising legacy agreements, and advising on mining tenure, land access rights and associated approvals across the resources, energy or infrastructure sectors.
You will negotiate land access and Native Title agreements, engage respectfully with Traditional Owners and Indigenous groups, and advise on cultural heritage and land clearing approvals — navigating complex, sensitive and evolving regulatory environments with strong stakeholder management.
This is an opportunity to work autonomously on discrete workstreams while drawing on the resources, clients and culture of a large international firm.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in native title, land access and/or projects law, from private practice or in-house roles in large organisations
- Strong experience in land tenure — reviewing, managing, renewing and securing tenure arrangements, including legacy agreements
- Experience advising on mining tenure, land access rights and approvals, ideally in mining, energy, resources or infrastructure
- Experience negotiating land access and Native Title agreements and engaging with Traditional Owners and Indigenous groups
- Knowledge of cultural heritage requirements and land clearing approvals
- Strong contract drafting, review and negotiation skills
- Current Australian practising certificate and right to live and work in Australia
- ArcGIS or spatial mapping experience advantageous
