Opportunity for a partner-level lawyer to join a well-established US law firm’s Portland (ME) office, supporting both tax controversy and litigation matters. The role combines courtroom and dispute-resolution work with complex tax advice across corporate and individual matters.

The team handles a mix of contested proceedings and advisory engagements; the firm is seeking a senior practitioner who can contribute immediately to casework and client strategy. This is a visible role with opportunities to lead matters and mentor junior lawyers.

Established partner or senior counsel with substantial experience in tax disputes and related litigation
Proven litigation and courtroom experience, including handling contested proceedings and motions
Strong technical knowledge of tax law and ability to manage complex advisory matters
Licensed to practice in the relevant jurisdiction and able to receive bar admissions as required
Track record of client development; a portable practice or demonstrable origination ability is welcome
