We are seeking a Solicitor and a Senior Solicitor/Legal Executive to join a national Casualty Police claims team, working from any of several regional offices. The team acts on behalf of a range of police forces, claims handlers and insurers in the defence of civil actions against the police.

The role involves managing a caseload of pre-litigated and litigated claims, including matters under the Data Protection Act and other police misfeasance claims such as false imprisonment, trespass, malicious prosecution and Human Rights Act claims, alongside employer's liability work. You will liaise with other solicitors, insurers, experts, counsel and clients, attend court hearings and conduct your own advocacy where appropriate, while supporting and mentoring junior team members and assisting with client development and training.

Qualified solicitor or legal executive, 0–3 years PQE or 3+ years PQE
Preferably experienced in claims under the Data Protection Act
Preferably experienced in defending civil claims; claimant-side experience will also be considered
Knowledge of the CPR and litigation, with the ability to undertake advocacy as required
Knowledge of police law desirable but not essential
Excellent organisation, time management, communication and IT skills
Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets, both in a team and on own initiative
Flexible approach with a willingness to travel
Must meet police vetting criteria, including residency requirements
