Our client, a premier global law firm, is seeking a mid-level associate to join its interdisciplinary Privacy & Cyber practice group. This role focuses on transactional and counseling work in the areas of data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on complex data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI compliance matters.
- Support corporate transactions (including M&A and IPOs) with respect to privacy, security, and AI components.
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements involving privacy and data protection terms.
- Provide product counseling and guidance on new technologies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant privacy experience (ideally with a mix of product counseling, commercial contracts, and corporate transactional work).
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
- Technical aptitude and understanding of online and AI technologies strongly preferred.
- CIPP certification is a plus.
Location: Open to candidates in Austin, San Francisco, Redwood City, or Washington, D.C. (multiple offices).
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction (or ability to become admitted).
- Minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in privacy law, focusing on transactional and counseling work.
- Demonstrated experience in product counseling, commercial contracts, and corporate transactions involving privacy, cybersecurity, and AI issues.
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management skills with capacity to handle multiple deadlines.
- Technical aptitude and understanding of online and AI technologies strongly preferred.
- CIPP certification (or equivalent) is a plus.
