Real Estate Finance Associate

A leading Am Law 100 firm seeks a midlevel associate to join its Real Estate Finance practice in Washington, D.C. or Baltimore.

This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-value commercial real estate finance transactions in a collaborative environment. The associate will represent lenders, servicers, borrowers, and government-sponsored enterprises across a broad range of matters.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating loan documents, subordination and standstill agreements, and other finance-related agreements.
• Conducting and managing legal due diligence on complex real estate ownership structures.
• Reviewing and evaluating title, survey, zoning, leases, and legal opinions.
• Managing and closing transactions from origination through funding.
• Supervising and mentoring junior associates and paralegals.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of law firm experience, with a background in multifamily lending or syndicated credit facilities preferred. Experience with agency lending programs and government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) requirements is a plus.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and be admitted to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and superior organizational abilities are required.

• Minimum of three years of experience in a law firm setting.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction (Washington, D.C. or Maryland).
• Experience with multifamily lenders and/or syndicated credit facilities.
• Familiarity with agency lending programs and government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) requirements (preferred).
